Is it safe to walk to the stadium from any of the hotels within a mile of the stadium? TIA

I wouldn't do it without a bullet-proof or stabbing proof vest

I live in Houston area and I'm meeting friends at Astroworld Hotel (Crowne Plaza) and we're walking. No fear here...safer than French Quarter

Coming from a dude with BR in his name, Holiday Inn is right next door to NRG, nice hotel, spent time in there hanging out for thr Gonzaga Duke game. Walking is fine there, there will be alot of folks walking, def safer than the Quarter for morons who dont live here (and yes I was born raised in the river parishes and know about BR and NOLA fluently) Live in the Woodlands now...

Just stay downtown or in the Med center and take the train. Easier and safer. NRG is in the ghetto.

Ghetto is a bit of an overstatement.

I mean you're a 3 minute drive to West U, which is one of the more affluent zip codes in the state.

This isn't Sunnyside or Telephone road we're talking about here.

Med center / rice village area is 10 min closer than downtown but either would be the correct choice.

Woodlands, as someone mentioned, would be a 45 min drive into town and that's without traffic.

The holiday inn is a dwarfs fart from the stadium. I'm a bit of a hotel snob and they have just renovated (it's not impressive) but if you're looking for convenience it's the place to stay. You can uber WETFUW from anywhere as well so there's that.

Your absolute best bet for a hotel in terms of location is Hotel ZaZa.

You're right off the Metro Rail line that runs to Reliant, right in the middle of the Museum District, a quick Uber to Rice Village/Upper Kirby/Midtown.

$206/night on Hotels.com

Astor Crowne Plaza

You're welcome

Any LSU fan that travels to Houston and relies on über or the rail after that debacle against Wisconsin last year is asking for trouble.

RE:The train...

Last scheduled departure from Fannin South is 11:24PM. Their schedule says 3 minutes to Reliant.

Not sure this game is gonna' be over by 11:27PM.

Might wanna' have a Plan B.

I've got reservations at Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn near NRG. Stayed at Holiday Inn for Wisconsin and it was fine. Anyone know anything about the Crowne Plaza near NRG? Nice bar?

Where should I stay?

Downtown Houston is a mess with construction. Be prepared to sit in traffic if you take your car, uber or a taxi during peak times. We stayed at The Hilton for TX high school football last weekend. Great bar and hotel, but not real convenient to NRG.

Don't listen to LaBR4. You'll be safe walking around the stadium. I don't know why Houston is viewed as a haven of crime. It's a huge city that does have crime, but it's not like you'll get shot just ramdomly walking down the street.

The area immediately adjacent to NRG is fine. Lots of folks in and around the parking lots, plenty of security and police types.

Now, if you head off down OST and cross 288...

I stayed at that Crown Plaza for a night last summer and its the worst hotel I have ever been in. It was disgusting. It did have a bar though.
