High school homerism on this board.

I see a lot of it. Jackasses talking up their favorite player as the next great something-or-other, or complaining that a certain player is not getting enough playing time. And then with a little digging it becomes apparent that the poster is from the same neck of the woods as the player, and they are being homers.
We saw it with Trey Quinn, who was supposed to break every LSU receiving record.
Perhaps the most egregious example is the Lindsey Scott lovefest. Some of the BR homers have been pumping him up as the greatest ever, and the future at QB.
There are plenty others. Happens in baseball too.

You act like this is some new phenomenon. Obviously people will have a little extra rooting interest in people who have similar backgrounds as them. Why is that news?

Maybe because they actually saw those players in action more than you and they know what they are capable of.
Of course it all depends on the player's ability, improvements, and the opportunity or lack there.

Yes, in Louisiana 5A football. It just doesn't always translate at an SEC level, particularly at the QB position. Even more so for a kid who received no offers from elite programs. For reference. Jordan Jefferson was a stud in 5A as well and had great things predicted of him. What happened?
We can all hope that we have an embarrassment of riches at QB, including Scott, but working with the scout team doesn't mean squat.

Only about a handful of posters at best come from Zachary. For the rest, it is more of a lack of faith in Etling's arm strength than anything else.

Only reason everyone loves Lindsy Scott is because he isn't the starter.
