Herman to be the next "legend" coach

I hope Alleva realizes this. We can get Herman for 3.5 -4.0 MM/yr, which will offset the erroneous perception of the size of the incremental costs incurred for a non-Miles coach change (especially when Miles gets a new gig that reduces the yearly debt owed to Miles).
Herman is 40. He came of age as the game was transformed. His tutelage is impressive. His resume is impressive. His persona us impressive. His future will be legendary.
I hope he is ours instead of a coach we face over the next 2+ decades.
He us cheaper now (for the transition), and unlike Jimbo, only will rise to the top salary after he wins a natty, and then would get such a pay level, and then it would be more than warranted/acceptable.
Alleva: I completely hope you are strongly engaged in the Herman acquisition potential. UH is raising his salary to 3MM/year, so he can be had for a lot less than Jimbo, and in 10 years, is very possibly a household college football name. He already us among those who really understand the college football status and trend(s). I hope you are among those who realize this. QB development, offensive philosophy/competence and Saban-beating are LSU's biggest needs, and Herman offers these 3 critical areas, and my h more, all in a disciplined man with an innovative mind, with a great 2 decades of football ahead of him.
That's my Herman pitch. I hope Sexton gets too cute, and that Herman is our guy.

Not a mention of defense in that resume.
Might as well pay for the Gus Bus.
Or Sumlin, another UH prodigy coach.

Mensa is for insecure fricks who need to be told that they're smart. That should not be presented as a positive. I'd rather our coach not be a cuck, personally.

What I fear about Herman is that he WOULD be successful......then bolt for the NFL after 4-5 years in. Then, we just got Saban-ed again.

Gamble, not a gamble that LSU needs to take.

No Way we don't focus on Jimbo
in fact little makes since if Jimbo is not in the bag

Exactly why I don't want him, jimbo is 50 and would stay for a miles like tenure for 10-11 years.

Would rather Dan Mullen
Josh Harris, Alex Smith, Brian Johnson, Chris Leak, Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, Tyler Russell, Dak Prescott
Go look up those names.
What he has done in 6 yeara at Mississippi St is 100x better than Herman at Houston. I mean Kevin Sumlin went 13-1 at Houston as well. Also, we'd have to pay Herman 4 mill because he'd get 3 to stay at Houston.
If you want to take a risk and pay 4 mill for a guy who has 1 year of head coaching experience, at a mid tier school to boot, over established coaches like Jimbo and Mullen, fine. However, I don't want us to take a steep risk when we can just take 6 mill for Jimbo or around 5 mill for Mullen and produce results immediately because they both have at least 6 years of HC experience and they know what the hell they are doing.

I think you guys should consider cutting your losses. First you could compromise. You wanted Fisher and Muschamp. How about you just hire old Mussie as HC? I guarantee he'd jump. His only condition would be that you work Georgia Southern into the schedule. He wants some payback!
That failing, I hear Al Golden is sitting by the phone, all dressed up and no where to go.

I like Herman but can he recruit?

The gamble they don't need is more Les Miles. He is what he is - he's not going to change or adapt, he's not going to turn the offense over to another new OC. All that talk is just delusional pipe dreams. It's time to get it over with and move on.

Funny but this thread is what I had heard when I lived in Memphis.
You never know if Herman will be great or not but please watch this presser...

Apples and oranges. Dooley never came close to having Herman's coaching pedigree, and UT was completely stupid in hiring him.
