I think the national media is just bored with the SEC at this point. Just trying to come up with something different to say.

At this point? Try every single year that the SEC has been good. They always try and find something out of everyone else, but when it's all said and done, the SEC comes out of it with the crystal ball.

If herbie was always right, then Les Miles would be at Michigan and USC would have won the last 9 national championships.

I think Notre Dame's D has proven more at this point.

Alabama has played nobody really.

LSU has a better resume of who they have played to this point..

I'd either have LSU's D or ND's D ahead of Bama's D at the moment. But all 3 D's are top of the line.

Crazy to think we don't have a senior starting.

He also said USCw was the best team in the country at the start of the season. Herbie says a lot of stuff that doesn't pan out.

That said, ND is pretty damn good on defense.

I hate ND, but they are at the very least in the conversation for best defense in the country.

Alabama's opponents' average scoring offense rank: 63rd.

Notre Dame's opponents' average scoring offense rank: 67th.

Alabama's defense is pretty easily beating Notre Dame's defense in every category against similarly ranked offenses. The numbers don't really back up the idea that Notre Dame's defense is better than Bama's.

Bama and LSU have defenses that are on a very different level than Notre Dame. Notre Dame's defense is very disciplined and executes well. Alabama and LSU's defenses are just as disciplined, execute just as well, but the difference is that they just have much better athletes at almost every position.

Also Notre Dame has been in close games all year so they are keeping their number 1 defense out there until the end. LSU and Alabama are often putting third string out there and giving up cheap, meaningless points. Hardly anything is given up against LSU and Alabama when the game is still in doubt.

I think Bama and LSU have better defenses, but ND is up there. They have been very impressive

LSU's backup defense hasn't had much more opportunities to play than Notre Dame's. They had to play the entire game against Auburn. So far LSU has had three blowouts compared to two for Notre Dame.

Are you sure about LSU? All of their SEC games have been close, so I'd be surprised if their starters got as much rest as you imply.

No, I'm not sure. Actually I was just including LSU with Alabama in my Bama/ND comparison so as not to look too homerish. Oh well.

I may agree with this. Maybe we'll get to see ND vs an SEC team in a bowl and I hope it's the BCS championship. There D is big, but I think their outside linebackers aren't quick enough for the SEC.

His claim on best defense changes week to week. The bastard started the season claiming Florida State had the best defense, he's full of kaka!
