Anybody plan on tuning in the radio broadcast at least for the last inning of the last game this weekend to hear his final call at the box?

I will be. He's the voice I associate LSU baseball with. It will be strange hearing another voice doing play-by-play for LSU when he leaves

man ya'll some hating arse mf'ers. Say what you will for all of Jim's recent gaffes he's been a great voice for LSU and provided some great memories for us over the years. His voice is synonomus with LSU for me. For every mistake he made there were 10+ legendary calls he made that stick in your head.

yes, I bought an ipod w/ a delay so I could sync TV w/ Hawthorn, football and baseball. I'm a big fan. familiarity breeds contempt. I'm old enough to remember (barely) JC Politz and of course John Ferguson and Jim's voice is special. Just wait, Hawthorn will be missed.

I'll be listening. I remember John Ferguson and people today would've bitched about him and they'll bitch about the next guy. The "let him cast a stone at me" does not apply to the perfect people of the Rant. I lived in Nevada in the late '80's and could find tune my AM radio dial and kinda pick up WWL for night games. It was his distinct voice that I'd hone in on while solely moving the dial. Jim will be missed.

I'll listen, and will miss him. Listening to Hawthorne goes back a long way for me, it will be the end of an era. Those of us old enough to remember, LSU may not have been on television 1-2 times a season in some of the lean years, or before the explosion of cable networks. The radio link was the only connection we had.

He's all I know. I've been listening since I was a kid in the 90's. His mistakes are part of him, but it's just LSU sports to me. Going to be sad to see him go, but I will be cursing his name up until the last inning when I'm hearing "that's a deep fly ball......reeled in by the short stop behind second base" . When we get a guy who does it perfectly, I'm going to miss the goofiness.

ABSOLUTELY

It was a BIG deal if we were on CBS or dare i say ESPN at night!. It wasn't until the later 90's and Dinardo bringing football back to LSU after Hallman and later years Archer killed it, that we were on TV on the reg.

Yogi Berra's "yogisms" is one of th things he's remembered for. Same with Les. The flaws are part of a person's uniqueness. Anyone that is happily married know it's the flaws in a person that are what is truly endearing.

Sadly, I was watching CBS on the Warren Morris call when it was live, but I have heard the radio call. I listened to him when I was in high school on the double header we took at the A&M regional when they were number 1.

I will and I can't imagine anyone else calling the play of Warren Morris' homerun...

He's why I don't listen to LSU sports on the radio so, to answer your question, "no."
