Haven't heard much about Frank Herron

I noticed that Dandy Don (take it with a grain of salt) had Herron listed as the back-up to Godchaux at right end. He and Gilmore were in the same class, and as I recall, Frank was a 5-star in at least one of the services. I also remember an odd bike-stealing incident.

I haven't heard much about him this offseason. Are we expecting a real contribution this year? He made his presence felt last year. Can we expect a similar incremental improvement in this, his junior year?

I'm expecting a lot more from Herron than from Gilmore. Herron was disruptive toward the end of last year.

That's what I was thinking, and it's why I'm asking the question. I just don't see his name mentioned very much in discussions about the D-line. We hear about Godchaux, Neal, Valentine, Gilmore, and even Rashard Lawrence, Glen Logan and Ed Alexander. But I really never hear a peep about Herron.

Don't know why you got down voted. Herron played a lot last year and made some plays. Hoping he continues his progress this year

Herron's been so explosive off of the line of scrimmage that I have to believe he will play a lot this year. I don't know much about his particular responsibilities on any given play, but given his impact when he is on the field I have to assume his lack of playing time to this point is due to some deficiencies in sticking to his play-by-play responsibilities. Hopefully he puts it all together this year. Plus, he has a great back story, so i'm really rooting for him.

I agree. I think Herron could be a breakout player on the line this year. He definitely flashed a few times last season.

I heard Les say good things about Frank once this off season and Ed as well.. I'm sure he will play a good deal and yes he contributed last year.

I think if LSU is gonna make a serious run, then Herron or Gilmore is gonna have to step up and be a force in the rotation

Also, Herron's abilities fit Aranda's style. He is a one-gap guy. He's not going to overwhelm with power, but he can shoot gaps. I think he will excel this year.

Frank will ball out, he's got the power and the skill... He just needs to be consistent. And he will stay in the rotation.

He was so hyped up preseason two years ago that nobody expects much out of him anymore. Hope he can do well though but I haven't heard him mentioned lately.

In our base 3-4, you'd have to take out either Godchaux or Neal--I'm not sure I'd want too often. I'm sure there's a package where DG slides inside and Heron comes in at end. So between backup spells and special packages, I'm sure Herron will play plenty.

The 2016-17 LSU Tiger defense will be dominant.

Herron will make enough of a splash where next year when Neal and DG leave for NFL we won't see a huge dropoff. He will be like a minter and have a huge senior year.

He will play plenty this year. He and Valentine are the first DL off the bench

Rant logic says the more you hear about how great a guy looks and how much he should play, the less likely it is to be true.

Frank Herron will be a force this year. If you really watched him last year and in the spring game (I know) then you know how talented he is.
