Yes, IIRC, but I'm too lazy to look it up.

Lost to long beach in 93. Wasn't 1st game but still had to win twice before the finals. Same scenario.

But we had guerrilla ball offense to come out of that bracket too.

In 1993 long Beach had to best us twice and only beat us once. So wr played them twice but we were in winners bracket

can't remember the history, but the loser's bracket is not the best place if your team has a weak bullpen...just sayin...

Not really the losers bracket. We went 2-0 then were pushed to the if necessary game in the bracket final.

Yes, we hit 8 HRs against them in game one and they came back to beat us twice and win the championship 21-14.

That was the CWS in which the term gorilla ball came about.

The format has changed quite a bit from the 90s. This is just a guess, but to reach the championship we probably have to beat CSF in game 2, TCU in game 3, and then Vandy twice. That's no easy task.

In the past 34 years, only three teams have lost their opening games at the CWS and bounced back to win the championship. South Carolina did it in 2010; Oregon State did it in 2006; and USC did it in 1998. But winning the opener is only half the battle. Of the past 25 titles, 22 have been won by a team that started 2-0 in Omaha (the same three teams -- South Carolina, Oregon State and USC -- are the only exceptions).

The only change on the format is the finals are a best of 3 series now.

The regionals changed a lot, it used to be 6 team regionals and no supers.
