Agree with some of the previous posters... Disgust is leading me down a path towards apathy. Who know's maybe there is a life outside of LSU football?

Agreed on the business front...these coaches are part of (not solely responsible) a $100M annual run rate business and they are paid $4-$5M year in the bigger programs. Startups in the Silicon Valley can generate $100M annually but you don't see one of them paying salaries to CEO's even close to this range. In addition, the maturity of these coaches whining about pressure and work when their results can be utter failure and on top of that they get these huge multi-million dollar exit packages that REAL business folks never see...hey coaches if you are reading this get a grip.

I'm much less emotionally invested in LSU athletics than I used to be. I can't let 18-year-olds and an incompetent administration dictate my happiness.

At this point I've turned near Ole Miss status, where I enjoy tailgating while winning is gravy. I don't remember the last road trip I went on where I actually expected to win, not just visit the town to have a great time.

I still love LSU athletics, but think Alleva and the administration are a bunch of clowns that lack a "commitment to excellence." They certainly do all they can to test your level of energy, enthusiasm, support, etc.

After 50 years Hell No!! Football is great now compared to some years in the past. I sat through Stovall's last year, Archer's last year, Hallman's last year, and Dinardo's last year. Stovall's 0-6 in the SEC we all went and no one left early!!!

I was young back in the 90s during the Hallman period. It was horrible. There was no point in caring and after awhile, I didn't. I mean, I was still an LSU fan, but what was the point in getting upset or caring?

It is heading back in that direction. Very sad.

Ever since the hiring of O, I've pretty much decided to view LSU football as comic relief.

I'm older than almost all of the posters around here; their fathers and in some cases their grandfathers. I'll never be apathetic about LSU football. It isn't the central focus of my life, but I will always care.

"Forever LSU" means something more than "I'm in as long as things go my way". LSU wins: I celebrate for a while. LSU loses I feel sad for a while. No matter. The sun rises the next day. And LSU will always be there. "Forever".

I'm sorry for you that sometimes things don't go the way you wanted to. I'm sorry for you that you need LSU football to give you personal validity. I'm sorry for you that you can only be a fan during the good times. I'm sorry for you that LSU didn't win as many games as you needed. I'm sorry for you that the games LSU won didn't provide you with the excitement your X-Box does. I'm sorry for you that

No. Would not be a diehard fan, otherwise. Have been disappointed several times thru the years, but apathetic... never.

I think a lot of people miss your point (and mine), mistaking outrage at the lack of a selection process for negativity and lack of support for the LSU program. Nothing could be farther from the truth, when it is that outrage and frustration that I view as support for a sustainable, success and winning program that is a leader in the nation...not just a middle of the pack program that is occasionally in the hunt or competitive.

You are right...the 90's, especially the Hallman years, were a shite show and I think that some fans without that experience are confusing having a local boy and lots of energy in heading up the team with a coach that has the skill set necessary to consistently compete for a playoff spot and national championship.

We had that guy in the early 2000's and know what that skill set looks like. Does anybody realistically think we have much, if any, of that in our current leader and this administration?

The decision is made and we must continue to support the coach, but that doesn't mean we should do it blindly.

I'm moving that way. But because of our fans, not the team.

He asked who was apathetic, not pathetic. It's pretty sad if you let other fans dictate how you live your life on saturdays.

My question has nothing to do with LSU's performance on the field, the administration, or my view the fan base. This wasn't a thread meant to kickoff a pity party for things not going my way. I was there 1/9/12, Lambeaux, a lot of heartbreakers and a couple of thrillers, but my devotion never waivered then because I still love being a tiger. It's just recently that I don't see the value in watching the things I use intrinsically love.

What I've generally gathered from the responses so far is that sometimes LSU's institutions are not faithfully reciprocating one's devotion to it's wellbeing or if this is the inevitability of life's changes that can affect one's outlook on things. I'm curious to see if this means it's a natural progression to view things in a different manner as time goes on or if this is just a temporary lull that can swing back to eager fandom.

Not at all... LSU is the team I root for everytime they play... It was A Joy to watch the Ole Miss game as well as the arse-kicking we put on A & M and Arkie... Miles teams didn't look THAT GOOD the last few years....FACT..................

I was getting to the apathetic stage while Miles was here. I am actually excited again. Unlike a lot of fans (most?), I am optimistic with Coach O at the helm. I think he will be like Trump in that he will prove people wrong who underestimate him. (Or as Bush once said, misunderestimate him.)
