Yah, he's being sponsored to use their gear. WTF does that have to do with his minor league career starting?

It's the equivalent of someone going to culinary school and having a dream of becoming a chef, and 2+ years later all they are doing is making salads at Applebees. Yeah, they are in the restaurant business, but it's nowhere near where they want to be.

He is getting a later start than the others because he had the Johnny Bench Award ceremony on Thursday night last week. I believe this is the last week to sign with a team. He'll get it done this week.

They get paid less than federal minimum wage standards?

It is only a 6 month season, so not less than federal minimum wage. Often they get part-time jobs in the offseason.

Until a minor league player is placed on a 40-man roster, monthly salaries are $1150 for the short season teams, $1300 for low A and $1500 for high A. For players repeating a year at the same level, the salary goes up $50 each year. For AA, the monthly salary is $1700 and it goes up $100 per month for subsequent years. For AAA, the monthly salary is $2150 per month and it goes up to $2400 the second year and $2700 the third year.

Playing in the minors is no glamorous lifestyle. I use to work with a guy whose son was in the minors. He shared a two bedroom apartment with 3 other players during the season. You're also riding a bus every week. His son had a kid at home too. He missed a lot of his daughter's first years.

Lazarre just said he hasn't signed yet.

Update:
Randy Rosetta retweeted 4th-rder Kade Scivicque signs with Tigers for $200k (slot 130 = $426,800).
