If so, how has he performed?

I think he is a more situational guy.

Riley and Beckwith are starters. Looks like we went with Donnie Alexander as a sub as a smaller faster option.

I remember everyone talking him up this off season. Just curious to see if he has made an impact.

Needs to take Riley's spot soon IMO.

Duke and Beck have held up their ends of the bargain. Really impressed with Duke so far.

Good problem to have

He's just a true freshmen behind a guy who is a senior.

Divinity had the advantage of playing at a pretty open spot. Especially after Thompson broke his leg

That's because we haven't played Alabama or Arkansas yet...

based on the fact that Dave hasn't really played him on defense, I don't see this happening. at least not soon. #inDaveWeTrust

btw, ol' Duke's looked pretty decent out there to me. though I kinda think he should be used as an OLB. really wanted to see how Corey Thompson looked at OLB.

If you can't watch Riley play and immediately realize he isn't up to the job then I doubt u have watch much football. He will be exposed in SEC play.

He is only on the field occasionally but he hasn't hurt us so far.

Agreed....those run-heavy teams, who like to use the TE (AKA Wisconsin) are going to give us matchup problems. When I see Riley he is being blocked/locked up by an OL...and does not get free. He is a complimentary ILB, helps/assists. He is not a sniff out the play, run to, and impact the ball-carrier. They missed an opp to get D White some invaluable reps last week.

I thought they replaced him with Bower after the Wisconsin game. I didn't notice during JSU.
He had a couple of good plays during Wisconsin that were equaled with a couple of bad lapses.
He's been OK for a freshman though, IMO.

Saw a little Sci Martin. Not much Divinity, White or Thornton though.

I think you're wrong on this. Riley looks like a good sized, athletic linebacker. Our problem on defense begins and ends at nose guard. We have one guy who can adequately man that spot, and he can only play about 40% of the snaps.

1+. That's what I saw during the Wisc game as well....Riley was nearly always locked up w/ the blocker and out of the play.

He's a good kid, but he doesn't have the size to handle a power running team. He got run over last year against Bama and Arkansas.

Go rewatch the game. I don't think he made a tackle. He mopped up a few plays
