I'm a huge fan of Harris' potential. I think he COULD be better than Mett.

But i just can't see him having a 2013 Mett type season.

I could see a 2400 yd passing, 500 rushing year with 20/7. And i'd take that every day. Then his senior year could be lights out.

that wasn't the whole of it. our recruiting resulted in him not having many choices in the front 7. as DC, I hold him responsible for the shitty recruiting.

Very Likely

Very Unlikely. With the rb stable we have, Harris won't have many designed runs called for him. I'd expect about 200 yards rushing total for the year. He has the ability, but he is not a scrambler when the play starts to breakdown.

All true. But i think some read option plays would go along way in loosening up the defense for LF7 as well as the passing game. It seem like we ran it 10 times last year, and all 10 times, gained at least 7+.

it would be dumb NOT to incorporate it, to some degree.

And that's my point, never have they stacked the box more than last season. If Mett had one on one a lot of the time like BH did, he would have abused them. I have faith in BH, I am not saying anything bad about him.

And mettenberger didn't have fournette. Don't think for a second it wouldn't have changed the passing game for mettenberger.

Mett had more reliable blocking. A lot of last year's problems were due to having lack of line depth by late in season. Even Fournette was less productive by then.

I agree he had hill. But hill was no fournette. To suggest to is silly. Teams didn't play LSU to stop hill. Not even close . If they stacked 8&9 in the box against Mett, he would have thrown for 4K yards

Come on Tampa Tiger22, I don't want to bash you and I do agree that Hill is no Fournette, but name me one back other than Billy Cannon who is a Fournette type back. In spite of Fournette being a pretty damn great back we do need a QB to win in this league. If BH and Fournette are both good they should be able to play off each other and wreak havoc on the league. If BH is not good then I don't care how great Fournette is we will have some losses. You don't run over defenses in this league if they know you are one dimensional.

While I hope Harris plays better this season, Mett actually begin to blossom into a efficient SEC QB beginning with Bama in 2012. So, his 2013 season didn't come as a surprise to me.

Harris didn't have the same improvement toward the end of last year as Mett did in 2012, but then Mett was a more seasoned QB by 2012 than Haris in 2015.

The fact that we're even debating Harris' true sophomore season vs. Mett's 4th year Junior season shows you how much talent Harris has.

As long as fans are not using only stats for this topic because from a statistical standpoint Jefferson had a better '2nd year' than both of those guys.

Jordan Jefferson performed well in Crowton's offense. Not so well after Crowton checked out.

The Wiz was OC for 2010 or at least 1/2 of it, before Miles neutered him.

I don't understand how many posters can be so hard on Harris since he was playing hurt for half the season.

I look forward to the miracle transformation of BH into a pro-style QB. Thanks OP!

The offense was to blame for just as many losses as the defense that year....

Yep. The "record breaking" offense still sputtered against Bama, as all Les offenses do.
