They were here in '12, too, which bolsters OP's position.

At what point did I say anything bad about hill? I am just saying if they stacked the box with 9 and Mett was QB, he would have thrown for 4K yards. They stack the box now and make Harris throw the ball.

Who would you rather have taking that first snap in the Wisconsin game, Mettenberger or Harris?

I hate that I have to even pose this question, especially after what we saw in 2015.

I didn't say you did. I just think people forget how good he was. In 2012 if he started the whole season we beat Florida and if we the coaches hadn't stopped running him against Clemson we win that game. He had 12 carries for 127 yards and didn't get a carry in the 4th when we were ahead. His 6.9 ypc were his sophomore season. I haven't gone back and watched tape, but I'm sure when the lead back is averaging 6.9 ypc you are loading up to stop him.

Mett in 2012 was 1000x better than Harris last year. No comparison. Harris would have to make up that plus the 2013 improvement.

Teams were stacking the box vs in 2013. Not as much as they did this past season, but teams def had an extra guy or 2 in the box a lot in 2013. I mean it was still a Les Miles coached team with a heavy emphasis on the running game. We ran the ball over 61% of the time in 2013. We used either 2 TEs or 2 RBs ( double TEs or I form) on 66% of the plays in 2013. And we ran the ball on 68% of first downs.

It's not like we were running a spread offense and throwing the ball 65% of the time. We ran a traditional power I offense with a strong emphasis on the running game, as usual. And teams were stacking the box vs us a lot that year as well, especially when we had 2 TEs on the field or in I formation. Mett and company took advantage of that. And when teams decided to not stack the box vs us, Hill took advantage of that. It's a symbiotic relationship. That 2013 offense was the definition of a balanced attack and everyone in the offense benefitted from it.

Mettenberger's best game while at LSU was in 2012.

That was a beauty. He stood in there an put the ball where they couldn't defend, just a great effort

Rohan was coached by Jimbo Fisher. That's why he actually got better.

Did you play high school sports? Did you improve a lot from year to year? Was it because of your coach or because your body and mind were maturing?

It's the same in college. Brandon Harris is growing into the body he'll have as a man. The game is slowing dowmn for him as well. I'll be very disappointed if Harris is not among the top five QBs in the SEC in 2016.

Landry and OBJ couldn't catch a cold in 2012

This is complete revisionist bullshite. OBJ did have a small case of the drops that year. It was not major. Jarvis Landry came out of his mother's womb catching the ball, and never had the drops - EVER!

I'd bet that Landry had no more than two drops that year. I'd also bet that, for each drop, he made a catch that you can't expect a receiver to make.

2013 Mett or 2015 Harris? 2013 Mett.

2013 Mett or 2016 Harris? I'd go with Harris, based on my hope for his improvement. I was not a Mett fan after 2013. He had a great arm, and converted a lot of third downs, but his results at crunch time were poor. And they'd be a lot worse if Jarvis, Dural and Jennings hadn't baled him out versus Arkansas. He lost that game if Jarvis hadn't stolen that interception. He lost the Ole Miss game almost single-handedly. Given a final chance in the shootout with Georgia, he failed to deliver. And given an easy chance to put away Clemson, he airmailed a one yard pass to a wide open receiver in the flat on fourth down.

Yes I did improve but I didn't have to look at Les Miles pulling puppet strings on my OC.

Yea but we also saw flashes of what Met could be in the 2012 season, 3/4 regular season games he played very well and in the Bama and St games he basically did what he did all of 2013

OBJ had a major case of the drops through the first 4-5 games. I do agree that Landry didn't, but in typical fashion the Rant criticized every receiver who was in the same picture frame of a pass.

The major issue that Mett had was an o-line that was less capable than 2015, and Les' horrendous running back rotation which minimized the effectiveness of our running backs.

Nobody hates Harris. He wasn't that good last year, and that was plain to see. He has plenty of eligibility and time to improve.

If Harris improves on his accuracy and short throws we can expect Etling for 2017

This is the scary though. Kid has been throwing the ball for probably 10 yrs and all of a sudden we hope he gets accurate?

Metro was always accurate, but had to learn the game. Harris is expected to do both by fall.

I agree with OP. Having a year of starting in the SEC will make a world of difference for Harris. He will be much improved from last year.

If 2016 Harris puts up better numbers than 2013 Mett, I'll self-ban for a month.

Metts oline was in shambles though. Chris faulk out for season, Hurst left program, lonergan battled back problems, Alexander struggled with weight and injuries.
