Harris is better so far
Compare Mettenberger’s statistics as a starter in his first and second seasons.
In 2012, Mettenberger had a lower passer rating (128.3) than Harris had last season (130.6). Harris threw more touchdowns (13) than Mettenberger threw in his first year as a starter (12) and had fewer interceptions (six, compared to seven).
What happened in Mettenberger’s second year as a starter? He threw for 3,082 yards and 22 touchdowns and had a through-the-roof passer ratting of 171.4.
If Harris can make the same progression in year two as a starter that Mettenberger made, look out.

I agree. It was the same with Rohan Davey. He had a very rough start but was terrific with experience.

Landry and Beckham Jr. had a bunch to do with those second year stats. Landry prevented a bunch of picks and overthrows.

I'm a big fan of Harris. I think Harris will be better plus he din't have OBJ or Juice Landry to throw to either.

If Harris improves on his accuracy and short throws we can expect Etling for 2017

I've been higher on Harris than most on here, but that's a big IF. Boykin made a huge leap for TCU as well. Would be nice, but I expect small improvements, not a transformation.

No lol

I somewhat agree with that. I like Landry but I'm more of a Josh Reed fan. Both were great for LSU, can't go wrong with either player.

And mettenberger didn't have fournette. Don't think for a second it wouldn't have changed the passing game for mettenberger.

True, but Jeremy Hill was no slouch...

But Mett did have Hill, who basically is an NFL starter now. Yes Harris has Fournette, but you make it sound like Mett didn't have a good running back behind him..

I agree he had hill. But hill was no fournette. To suggest to is silly. Teams didn't play LSU to stop hill. Not even close . If they stacked 8&9 in the box against Mett, he would have thrown for 4K yards

If Harris can develop touch he will be deadly. If...

Right. Some develop and some don't.

Odell 2nd year had I believe 713 yds and Malachi had 698 yds (602 without bowl). Thats not too far off, even if Odell's yds dont include postseason stats. I expect Malachi to also make a huge jump from his 2nd to 3rd year

I know Craig has been giving Harris some drills to work on his touch. Craig said Cam lets him intervene and give tips. Harris has mentioned that Craig has been major help

Joking right?
Hill is/was an absolute beast.
