Moffitt said he expects Guice to break some weightroom records before he's done at LSU.
I doubt he beats some of those weights that Ford threw up at lsu. Michael Ford was a phenom in the weight room.

LSU's rush attempts were the 3rd lowest since 2008 last year. Granted, it was one less game played.
2008 - 495
2009 - 435
2010 - 538
2011 - 591
2012 - 527
2013 - 523
2014 - 621
2015 - 506
It's safe to assume LSU will run the ball at least 500 times next year.

Yeah Ford was crazy strong. But just relaying what Moffitt said about Guice. Here's the actual quote...
He said that last summer during summer workouts, so Guice had only been in the weight room with Moffitt for a month or so. And pretty sure I remember reading something on here before last season where Guice power cleans just as much or more than Nkemdiche did at Ole Miss. Like 355lbs or something close to that.
Regardless if he breaks Fords records or is "stronger than Ford", it's pretty clear that Guice is freakishly strong in the weightroom and 1 of he strongest on the team. He also knows how to use that strength and power on the field and showed that as a freshman. Ford was an absolute monster in the weightroom and crazy strong, but he never really showed that on the field.
quote:
"Another one I know is going to test out really well, and he's only a freshman, is Derrius Guice," continued Moffitt. "I've known Derrius for a long time. He's been friends with (my sons) Clay and Aaron for a long time, so I've heard all the stories about him. So Derrius will break a few records (in the weight room) before he leaves as well."

I hope Juice and Williams, combined, get more carries than last year. We need to keep LF fresh for the entire season especially towards the end.
Watch the Arkansas game and see him still driving through and bowling over defenders, knocking em all over the place. Same with Ole Miss, same with TAMU, same with Texas Tech. The only thing that changed was the blocking. The blocking was exposed late last year. Fournette can get 25 per and not miss a beat like RB greats of the past did their entire career.
But do I think he should still be getting 25 per game, naw, more like 22. He should still be the main focus of the attack with Harris and the other backs as complimentary aides. Guice should be what Clement (although I think Guice is a million times better) was for Melvin Gordon. Brandon Harris and his WRs should be able to keep the defense honest. The OL and FB/TE should be able to block somebody now with the addition by attrition and more experience.
A strong defense, a strong running game, and a decent passing game to balance the offense. That's what LSU needs to become undefeated next year.

Guice came in power cleaning as much as Ford did as a Freshamn.
Ford was at 385 by the time he graduated. Safe to say Guice is on the same trajectory.

Im sure you're right i had just always heard that Ford was an animal considering he wasnt 230 lbs. The guy was squatting 560 as a rb. Thats insane

Don't forget that Harris is a pretty darn good runner.

Well we run the ball a ton and we only have 3 RBs
I think he'll get carries.

The awesome part about Guice is he just needs to be one the field. He can be lined up all over the place, and then motion to the backfield or throw him the ball on quick screens.
Williams is a solid back, but he does need to keep his weight in check which from the most recent article he needs to get down about 10 lbs. Pads and BR heat should do the trick.

This, he was running hard and angry before he had his injury.

Watched the replay of the Auburn game and Guice doesn't fricking stop. He had a few plays where 3 guys were draped on him and he was still pulling his leg trying to get free
It's great to see but he might have to learn how to protect himself in those situations whenever he becomes "the guy" after this year. He left his knee out in the open ready to be crunched a couple times

I was just replying to the guy saying we only have 3 RBs. Brossette is going at 100% according to coaches.
Also, I think we are going to be blowing teams out pretty often, so he will get some carries from time to time.
