in the Saints game. Corner interferes with the receiver, but the ball is tipped before it even gets to the receiver. Flag for pass interference, no debating, no challenge (don't think they can anyway), and announcers didn't even comment that it was a wrong call.

Play sound familiar. FU Auburn officials

I think of that damned play all of the time! I have a photo (don't really know how to post, but doesn't really matter at this point) with the Auburn player's arms wrapped around our guy so that there's no way he could even get to the ball. Makes me sick!! We would have gone to the SEC championship game that season if we'd won that game if I remember correctly and faced a Florida team that barely won a lot of games that season (had to rely on 2 or 3 missed field goals to beat Carolina)and that was a pretty late season game if I remember right. Coulda possibly been 2 NC's in a row for the tigahs!!

It's hard not to be reminded about that call when the opportunity to score could have been the result. We'll never know of course.

The only way that was not holding or interference is if the ball was tipped at the line of scrimmage. The officials made themselves look more stupid by saying that the ball was tipped and uncatchable when in fact it does not matter. In the NC game against Oklahoma out TE was held at the line of scrimmage and the sooners were flagged for holding. Our TE couldn't have caught that pass if he wasn't even touched but it was still holding.

Jimbo Fisher was a bigger part of that loss than the officials. FACT.

As horrible as that call was, and it was fricking horrible...the fact that play even happened was JaMarcus' fault. Hear me out...

I am on record here as being one of the biggest Russell fans around. This is NOT a bash Russell thread or post. Even the best players make bad reads and throws. But after that whole non-call controversey erupted, a series of photos came out that were taken from behind Russell by an LSU fan. I don;t have them any longer unfortunately. But in those shots, you can see Early WIDE arse OPEN heading into the EZ but unfortunatelt Russell shortarmed the ball and underthrew it. In the photos you could see it because he reacted as if he knew he had thrown a bad ball. And you can also tell that after the ball left JaMarcus' hand Early needed to change his route back across the field rather than continuing to head to the EZ. Had Russell simply lead Early deep there was no one over him and he'd have scored easily.

Instead, it happens to get thrown into coverage and we all know what happened after that.

If anyone remembers those photos or has them I'd love to see them again.

agreed JR underthrew it but still pass interference (i know you're not arguing the contrary)

before JR lets it go you see early's hand fly up to signal he's wide the frick open.

That game had many blown calls. Interference in the endzone before half as well as the Hester fumble that was called incomplete. What dictates a football move?

this.

i've never seen more blatant pass interference that irons shoving jojo from the back and kicking his legs out from underneath him.

"wow. auburn really got away with one there."

You know, it's ironic. All those folks who are STILL constantly on JR's dick about not bringing home titles and point to the AU game as one of those failures NEVER point to this play. Why? Mostly because they have no real argument and are simlpy bitching about the guy because they don;t like him personally...but if they DID want to make an actual point they'd claim that had Russell made even a decent throw here Early scores and LSU gets out of the game with a win. That play DID NOT cost LSU the win, but had it been made it would have delivered one.

But because of the PI non call, people either forget or never even realized that play was there for the taking had he thrown a nice ball.

I'm not an expert on this play, but that's what I have always maintained. The ruling on the field was pass interference. It was overruled when the ball was ruled "uncatchable" (thus it should have been defensive holding - which is clear from the replay).

The really egregious part is 1.) In the same game, we intercepted a pass, but similar contact on the receiver called that back (if it was intercepted, it is super duper uncatchable by the receiver and there's no need for a judgment call), and 2.) Upon further review the SEC-ALA (The Southeastern Conference of Alabama) office said that BOTH calls were correct.

Thank you. There was more than one game-deciding bad calls that went against LSU in this one. To me, that was the absolute worst one. Everybody recalls the last one because it was the last on the mind, but that mugging in the endzone was the worst one.

Also, don't forget the Hester catch and fumble on 4th and 1 that was overturned and ruled incomplete. That was another play where JR just needs to make a good throw and it doesn't have to come down to a blown call.

That said, the Tigers have more than paid them back for this game over the past 2 seasons, so I'm over it.
