Less turnovers. Better control. Same good defense.

Can someone explain how this guy was a big-time scorer in JUCO and of dreadful scorer here? I understand competition but jeez.

He has a lot to offer, needs to get his confidence back.

He has the worst shooting technique for a guy who has a reputation as a scorer.
He's quick with the ball and in time may be a good point guard.

He's a scorer because he gets to the basket and have you never watched Hornsby shoot?

Yeah, but Hornsby makes his. ;)
I was surprised at Hornsby's stroke as well.

Because he doesn't shoot 3's. He gets to the rack. And everybody loves to shite on him, but he's been scoring a lot better lately in the paint. And CJJ asked him to pass a lot more when he got here and he wasn't used to it

His assist:turnover ratio has been much better lately. He has a lot to offer, but lost confidence. He scored so much because he can get to the rim at will. It's just much harder finishing it at this level.

Gray has had some tough moments this year, but he gives this team another dimension. He's our only guard who can penetrate into the lane consistently. If he continues to make good decisions once there we will be a tough out in the tourney.

He has been a turnover machine. He lacks a consistent outside shot and get lost with dribble penetration. His inside shots get blocked in the SEC. He did look better tonight but he has to learn where his place is on the court. And in games before, his defense is absolutely absent.

He did make a couple of good passes/assists tonight and penetrated succefully a couple of times. However, when you shoot for three and don't hit the rim or consistently miss free throws, its time to quit shooting. Let someone else take the shot.

Eh, he hasn't been since moving to the bench. The numbers back up the OP's point.

LINK

He has 15 assists to 6 turnovers in the 6 games since the Auburn loss.

I have to admit that Patterson shooting a quick 3 for the first shot of the game had me banging my head.

ETA: But Gray is definitely playing better. Hopefully he works hard in the off-season. It would be great if he improved enough to win the starting role back as a pass first point guard.

JP does have a quick trigger. But he was feeling it in the second half. He just threw a lob up at the goal and it went in that's how you know you are having a good game.
