"Quarterback race is just what it is," LSU coach Les Miles said Monday after his team's first complete team and contact practice in full pads following four days in only shorts and helmets. "Will take some time. I'm saying it's an ongoing process. Both guys are playing better."
Jennings held off Harris last season and started 12 of 13 games. Both struggled. They exited spring about even. Neither looked great.
"They're night and day in how they approach it," Miles said in comparison to a year ago at this time. "They continue to evolve. We'll have better quarterback play."
Miles, who settled on Jennings once and for all as of game seven last year, was asked if he had a timetable to name or settle on a starter. "I'm not that guy that's going to make an early decision certainly," he said. "And again, I think, including today, both guys made progress this day. So, it's the way it is."

miles won't announce a starter at all IMO.
Brandon Harris will enter into the game on september 5th to a large tiger stadium roar.

It's not even worth reporters asking Miles specific QB questions. He always gives bs answers in some riddled type statement that doesn't do anything but waste everyones time. Same ol same ol

One day they will understand this and get on with life

This is what is killing us as a team. Not knowing. It makes both QB's unstable. The team then is not as stable as it should be, all because he doesn't want to say. The only way I would agree with his tactics is if he has already picked a QB the team can get behind so they know who is starting, but we don't. I am fine with the Public not knowing, I just hope they know.

And yet you opened this thread and read the post.

While that is somewhat true, Miles does it a quirky fashion. He is just hard to listen to or have the want to listen to if you will.

Sue did. It's sad. I can't just turn away.

If he doesn't name a starter then the starter will be Harris.
At least, I would hope Miles would do this.
I say that because as much as I'm not a fan of AJ as a QB, not announcing and then trotting AJ onto the field would be one shitty thing to do to AJ cause, well, let's face it. The reaction would NOT be good.
No. If you plan to start AJ, you have to announce ahead of time out of decency to AJ. Let the fans scream about it BEFORE entering Tiger stadium.

It's clear Harris is the guy. Gg is just trying to stir shite up

Why announce a starter 25 days before to start of the season? There is no advantage to it. Let them both work and compete as hard as possible to earn the job.
How many other schools with a QB competition going on have announced their starter a week into fall practice?

I agree with all of that.

I wish a reporter would just say "Les we know since 07 we've only had one really good year at Qb so can you give another BS Statement about how the qb's are going to be better"

quote:Well, QB competitions are either competitive, in which case, you don't announce or, one guys is notably more talent, in which case, I submit you should announce.

Frankly, if our race IS competitive at this point, it is NOT encouraging cause our known quantity should've been passed up by anything vaguely resembling an SEC quarterback.

Meh.
Many coaches just basically say, "I aint talking about that" when they don't want to tell fans anything.
Let's be blunt here. Miles lies like a fricking rug. And THAT is completely silly because people are correct. He doesn't HAVE to tell the fans anything. So, why fricking lie?

We better not do a 2 qb system bullshite
