They'll just push for the game to be played in Florida on the 19th.

Actually look for even more pressure on us to screw up the schedule and play Florida.

GT nailed it. The media is about to pressure LSU to bump South Alabama to play UF November 19. Doubt they even move the A&M game back two days.

Only if everybody hounds Aleeva and the SEC. Monday morning, make the call and sent the emails. Use the phrases " unearned competitive advantage" , "loss of a home game while our flood-ravaged community rebuilds" and "don't be a UFlorida bottom-boy". It's time to be like the Gumps and advocate for ourselves like we mean it.

The media is perverted. Look at their love for Hillary. So who gives a flip what they think

Only agree to play it if it is going to be in anyway advantageous to us. If not, tell them to go frick themselves.

What is another viable option? A forfeit isn't realistic. UF will never be forced to forfeit a game due to a natural disaster. Not playing the game seems increasingly unrealistic as well. Plus it could hurt lsu. So what is another meaningful option? If it exists, I'm all for it. Shouldn't have to sacrifice a home game.

A lot of the media has already shifted to LSU's side. The problem is, they will switch just as quickly to badmouth LSU if Florida (and their buttbuddy SEC) push the narrative to "LSU won't play on the 19th and we HAVE to play this game!"

Giving up a home game will cost the BR economy millions. That makes playing in Gainesville on 11/19 a non-viable option. If UF wants to come to BR on 10/29 and reschedule whatever opponent they have that weekend, then I'm for that. In no way should LSU do anything to help out the SEC or UF.

Honestly, at a $4.5 million loss, I don't think the media will hammer us for not playing on the 19th.

From Dandy Don today:
quote:

So what happens now? One solution would be for the SEC to alter the rules for determining who participates in the SEC Championship. The rules state that each conference team shall play eight conference games each year. If that is not the case this year, an exception to the rules for selecting championship participants should be made. One option would be to only consider divisional records in determining who wins each division. Another option would be to not use “winning percentage” as a determinant (currently, it’s looked at first before head-to-head competition) and instead look at the number of losses and head-to-head competition.

I was thinking about the media's role in this. Firstly, why would Foley worry so much about the narrative? He's on his way out. Florida had the excuses on their side (that being an emergency). Why did he, or people in the media that cover UF, go as far as the false narrative of offering to play on 11/19?

Because the other cog in this decision wheel are the TV people. And they, especially ESPN, tend to support whichever narrative is front and center. TV will have a big say in when this game will be played (and thus revenue for the conf/teams).

Thus, if you're Foley you control the narrative, you then strongly influence ESPN/CBS, hence you will have more (slightly? significantly?) influence in that ultimate decision.

In other words, Foley not only angled for an advantage upfront, successfully, but was hoping to also have more options/angles later too.

But you are right, I expect the media to be more on our side. Partly because of what you said, partly because of that horrible Q&A Sankey had today. We've been on the short end of some very selfish actions this last week. I have no problem with UF being selfish. I have a problem with us not doing the same now that we know exactly what we're dealing with in Foley & Sankey. So LSU for here out should angle with selfish motives in mind; such things as getting TAMU game moved to Sat just because, not losing home game and local monies, try for some non-TV revenue split with UF (punitive on them), etc. Screw it. Go for it. Just have to time it right as to not lose being on the "right side of media" too early.

If the SEC pressures LSU to bump the USA game then the SEC needs to fork up about 4.5 million dollars to LSU for lost revenue and USA buyout.
