Did anyone drive by Alex Box today and see these words in large letters around that ring structure with our six national champions flags? Way to go LSU, associating our championships with a used car salesman image. I guess they're both about all about the mighty dollar. Shame on you LSU.

Yes, because in an economy such as this one where donations are down, the school is looking for $73 million in budget cuts, and cuts are being made across the board - it is ludicrous to have a successful, local company pony up some needed money and sponsor a part of the stadium.

I'm sure they could have found a sponser better than a car dealership.

I think you take the money where you can get it, as long as it's not from somewhere evil.

Heck, I'd take a $100 million donation from BP to LSU with np right now.

Ummmmmmm...most of us got a HUGE thrill from the Saints performance last season and winning the Super Bowl.

I wonder if any car dealership had anything to do with them.........?

What? Benson made his fortune in....GASP....CAR DEALERSHIPS!!! That's it. I can no longer enjoy that season or the Saints!!!!

Professional sports are alot different than college sports. Colleges name their stadiums after players or coaches, not soft drinks and car companies.

It's not Gerry Lane Stadium, it's just the plaza that got the name.

Gerry Lane Enterprises is a respectable business employing several hundred people throughout the Baton Rouge area .... and no, I don't work for them.

What do you do for a living? I'm sure it must be something more "respectable."

How about this. If you support LSU athletics, support those businesses that do as well. Go buy a car from Gerry Lane.

Shame on LSU? No, shame on you motherfricker.

Edited:

Sorry, I just looked up your profile and see that you are an engineer. Since you like to perpetuate the stereotype of the used car salesman, I'll perpetuate one of my own. I'm guessing you are one of those engineer types that knows everything about anything? Please share more of your knowledge with the rest of us uneducated simpletons. Maybe I'll spend the rest of the day reading your post history in hopes of some nugget of genius rubbing off on me.

I'm on my 10th from them. Mr. Gerry hooks me up. Good guy for an Okie. The only reason to bitch is that Eric went to tulane and is a willow streetwimp. Rumor is they got a Cadillac dealership.

its been up for a couple of months. You must not be a real fan if you don't drive by the stadium every day just to smell the grass

Doesn't Louisville play at Papa John's Stadium? Rutgers is looking at selling naming rights to some of their facilities.
