I've bashed those on here that post stuff about the band and its importance to LSU. Some seem overly zealous in that way, but that's their prerogative.
What I will say, that new director and TGBFTL really did us proud so I'm saying a sincere THANK YOU.

Wasn't a dry eye around me. It was outstanding. So proud of them, especially after what they've been through as an organization. Also, really enjoyed JSU's band! They're differently stylistically (more DCI) but both shows were highly entertaining.
Way to go, GBFTL! Last night was really the perfect evening of football and entertainment for the people of Louisiana!

I saw the GBFTL rehearsal and performance on FB. It is basically a collection of music and pictures from past LSU band shows. Very, very sad that the new administration can't come up with anything new.
1. Amazing Grace.....has been done in tiger stadium 2 - 3 times recently for 9-11 tributes....always a touching "tribute song."
2. Spelling out "Louisiana".....this was done at least twice in previous years....always gets the crowd excited.
3. Callin' Baton Rouge....has been done very recently (last year I think).
You are my Sunshine....was done in the past (it was bad then too).
4. Forming the state of Louisiana.....did this a few years ago, stole this from Linda Morehouse. ....always gets the crowd excited.
Current band members were telling friends and family this past Friday that "this is the least prepared we have ever been for a performance." This was the general attitude in the band (according to these members). I guess that's why they had kids quitting the band last week!

Very disappointed LSU Band fan......

Go away you POS!! anytime there's a GBTFL thread you jump in to flame away. It's getting old.

There is literally nothing anyone could complain about with last night's halftime performance. Retreat back to your miserable little hole.

As soon as I saw the thread title I knew you would be in here finding something to bitch about.

Let it go.

Really.....and you call yourself a former tiger band member? WOW. The JSU band blew the LSU band OFF THE FIELD (both music, spirit and marching).

I love how your support for the previous director has blinded you.
Every great musician knows exactly what to play and when to play it. They know what their AUDIENCE needs to hear.
The key will be next weeks performance. If it isn't very good, then so be it.
That performance last night was exactly what the city of BR and State of La NEEDED!

Very nice show. I feel that the fans in attendance enjoyed the show and very appreciative of it. I heard several loud rounds of applause and cheering during the performance.

So because you think JSU performed better--then LSU was awful? Band isn't football. Both teams can go on the field, have great performances and as a fan I can appreciate them both. And I'm shocked that as a band "fan" you can't recognize the stylistic differences between LSU and JSU. One is old school (whether you like it or not), classic marching band, and the other is of the DCI variety.

And don't insult me, I can see the differences easily. I'm just not a piece of shite who likes to dump on an organization at every opportunity. Your shtick is transparent. Rub some vagisil on it and move along.

Please save the criticism of our band until after next week's halftime performance. This was not the show to judge the new director. After watching the video, the fans were appreciative of the band's efforts to put on a show appropriate for the circumstances in the area right now.

If the show next week is a dud, then flame away.

Get over yourself and try to get educated. The LSU band has been a corps style band since 1979. Nick Rouse changed the band from "pageantry" or "old style" to "corps style." You claim to be a former member and don't know your band facts. Shame.

First of all, quit upvoting your own posts.

Second, get a life. This is truly pathetic, and an argument you're just not going to win.

Really....I don't have to "win" this argument....just watch a video of BOTH bands and any idiot will agree with me.

Is this JSU the same as Spirit in DC I?

I know North Texas used to basically be Phantom's drum line. I used to follow Spirit of JSU but I couldn't remember if it's one in the same.

Yes, you are correct. Check the Spirit roster And it's primarily comprised of JSU members. Got to talk to them in the tunnel, great kids. And they were all breathing as if they had just run a marathon...understandably. DCI shows are intense, often strenuous. Knew some bandies in HS that marched for Sprit, they came back 50 lbs lighter in August.

Their band is probably better than ours, but you completely missed the point of the OP.

The OP wanted to thank the band for their show in support of the recent circumstances that everyone in South Louisiana are going through.

To take that thanks and derail it into your own personal vendetta against the band and LSU administration is sickening in my book.

I don't agree with the way Roy King was treated. You don't treat a fellow alumnus like that. I'm very skeptical of the direction the administration is taking the band. I'm not confident in the leadership, but I'm very proud of the students who stayed and are working their hardest to do well and please the fans.

So take the performance as it was meant to be ... a tribute to the community. Because of that, I thank the band and am proud of them!!
