Is the Music City bowl considered a more prestigious match up then the Gator Bowl now? Just saw that UT got the Gator Bowl is all.

This should help explain what you are looking for.
The SEC bowl lineup will include the following:
•Capital One Bowl (vs. Big Ten or ACC)
•Outback Bowl (vs. Big Ten)
•Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl (vs. ACC or Big Ten)
•TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl (vs. ACC or Big Ten)
•AutoZone Liberty Bowl (vs. Big 12)
•Texas Bowl (vs. Big 12)
•Belk Bowl (vs. ACC)
•Birmingham Bowl (vs. TBA)
•AdvoCare V100 Bowl (vs. ACC)
In selected years, the SEC will also participate in the Allstate Sugar Bowl and the Discover Orange Bowl.
The selection process for SEC bowl games will also be new starting in 2014. After any SEC schools are selected to the College Football Playoff, Allstate Sugar Bowl, and/or Discover Orange Bowl, the Capital One Bowl will have the first selection of remaining teams.
A pool of six bowls will then select their teams “in consultation with SEC member institutions.” The six bowls are the Outback Bowl, Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl, TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl, AutoZone Liberty Bowl, Texas Bowl, and Belk Bowl.
After the pool of six bowls have created their matchups, the Birmingham Bowl and the AdvoCare V100 bowl will have the eight and ninth picks, respectively.

Yeah...usually. Just seems weird to me UT got into that one and Georgia is playing in the "Belk" bowl. lol. But, again I guess they have changed things around by the looks of things.

They are on the same level now:

Kind of weird to see things like the Liberty Bowl, Texas Bowl and Belk Bowl on the same level as the Outback Bowl.
Birmingham Bowl and Advocare Bowl get the leftovers after that sharkfest above.

No thanks to going back to Florida

I'm certain that a big part of the decision was that Iowa was playing in the Gator Bowl.

Lol, I live in Orlando now. I want them in a Bowl close by.

No matter what the hierarchy, LSU got the most attractive matchup.

Losing the Cotton Bowl was terrible for the SEC's selection.

Historically, the Gator Bowl is the more prestigious bowl. Now, the SEC swears all 6 of the bowls in the "pool of 6" (Outback, Gator, Liberty, Texas, Music City, and Belk) are equal. Just hard to get past the traditional way of thinking for those of us who have been watching bowls for 40 years or so.

I'm sure LSU not going to Tax Slayer was more about the matchup - did not want to play Iowa again

Alleva said on 104.5 this morning that SEC now has control where teams go vs. the bowls making the choice. LSU told SEC they wanted a quality name opponent and was seeking to play Notre Dame when they knew it was a possibility. I guess logistics made it better for travel for both teams. LSU probably knew they would get better ticket sells to Nashville vs. Jacksonville.

The ONLY thing I do not like about the MCB is that it's on Tuesday at 2 PM... so I probably can't go. A night game on the 30th and staying in downtown Nashville for NYE would be an awesome time. Great town, and Honky Tonk central on Broadway just blocks from the stadium... great time and place to visit for live music venues.
