I said it when it got posted before the season, but Dan Borne's "Saturday Night in Death Valley" video is about 25-30 seconds longer than the previous video. Now it hardly finishes before kickoff. The video should be finished before the kickoff team runs on the field. People aren't watching the video once the kickoff teams take the field.

Yep, that's the one. The previous version had a faster pace to it.

And the pacing and emphasis of words is all fricked up in general.

It takes away from the impact of the phrase compared to the original in multiple ways.

If you haven't seen this already, you don't go to the games nor keep up here. We discussed it for a week leading up to the season.

Is it about Dan Borne or is it about LSU football? As a fan of that whole thing, there is a point when something becomes too self-conscious and it starts to lose it's authenticity. I think we are getting there with the way that video is presented.

On the other hand, maybe it is because I once found it moving, and now find it too contrived. Maybe it's me.

It used to be more of a straight narration. Now it is Dan Borne trying all sorts of forced inflections. It's much more contrived and really loses whatever effect it once had because now all you do is notice the goofy forced inflections.

You know what I would love? Have a tiger stadium throwback game and have no technology besides lights, scoreboard, word captions of the play, and announcer.

No led board
No videos
No replay
No piped in music
No cheesy videos providing assurance that tiger stadium is a cathedral yada yada yada; I cannot hear what he is saying anyway.
Dan Borne has to update us of other scores for the day
Only entertainment comes from the game, cheerleaders, and the band.

Amazing that this simple experience existed before 1999 yet it seems long forgotten.

Dan Borne has probably been given too much freedom, and Dan Borne loves him some Dam Borne.

So now that we have a team that is in the Top 5 in the polls, we saw the balanced offense that we've been asking for, and coming off a victory in a Top 10 SEC matchup, we have nothing else to gripe about so we move on to the videos?

Logical.

The original version was awesome. The new version is not. Borne doesn't have the voice for it.

This X 1000
I am sick of hype videos. We have hype videos for our hype videos, hype videos for our band, for our stadium, for our fans. It used to be the fans and the band were the hype entertainment.

I just want to know why when I get to my seats 1 hour before kickoff they have just one tiny arse screen showing scores with the rest of the 200 yards of wrap led screens showing nothing but ads.
