Game Plan Meeting for the Bama Game

Orgeron: "Okay Aranda, that game plan sounds fantastic. I really like how you planning on attacking and keeping their offense on their heels. Alright Ensminger, whatcha been working on for the offense."
Ensminger: "Well, I thought we'd line up with 2 TEs and run the ball up the middle about 20 times. That should really loosen things up."
Orgeron: "Sounds good. That is so completely different than anything we've ever tried before. One team, One heartbeat, one blahablhl..."
We need an offensive-minded Head Coach.

What happened to "we're going to flip the script on offense"???

How about that empty backfield look, when O constantly preached during the week that he wanted to protect Etling?

It doesn't matter what formation your backs are in when your QB's completion rate is 46% YOU AIN'T BEATING BAMA!!!!!!

quote:that one actually pissed me off more than the 2 TEs and I formation. Etling got sacked 4 times in the first 2 possessions? I mean, they basically set him up to get his bell rung and to make mistakes.

I didn't understand the long development plays. There was one playaction play where Etling faked the handoff and practically had to turn almost 180 degrees to see the field. By the time he got to his progressions the defense had already jizzed on his tummy.

It was like after the first series (other than going 4wide and motioning LF out) all the creativity vanished

Curious to hear what the players felt like on Wed after hearing what the gameplan will be.
The playcalling was worse than a Miles offense

With somebody like Aranda calling the shots on defense, yes.

That post was pure poetry, and true.

I didnt rewatch the game so I cant discuss specifics but just from a cursory perspective during and after watching the game the thought that kept popping into my head was, "What happened to all that refreshing creativity we saw in the first 3 games?", and, "Did Ensminger just cop Les Miles' offensive gameplan?".

If Les Miles was fired for the failure to make changes, we should fire Orgeron today for the same reason.

A Cameron/Miles gameplan would have been a welcome change compared to what we saw Saturday night.

I noticed the WR's motioning to block the ends alot more this game.
Two takeaways from that- 1. Our Oline does suck that bad. 2. Fact is this is a Les/Cam offense and it CANNOT be overhauled in the middle of the season. You have to work with what you have.
However, I really wished we would use both Fournette and Guice in the backfield together alot more. That kind of tweak can't be that hard to implement.

Bama's speed counteracted anything that we could have tried given the offensive philosohphy that Orgeron inherited. Do you honestly think that O could have totally changed the offense in 6 weeks ....mid season.
LSU is a running team that passes only when forced to. It has been that way since 2009 with a break in 2012 and 13 when all Miles had was a QB with an arm. WE have arguably the best stable of running backs in the country. Miles and Cameron taught these guys to run. Ensminger can only tweak that system...change in blocking schemes. But to expect that Orgeron could magically turn this offense from a primarily run oriented team to a team that could actually pass is some what delusional.
Think about it, in the three games Orgeron has won, how did we win? LSU did it with stout defense and running the ball. Etling at least when he threw was not making STUPID mistakes that cost. BTW Etling did not make mistakes that truly cost Saturday night.

quote:Yes he did. Missing wide open receivers for first downs cost us dearly. For some reason, people only view ints as costing the team though

Well maybe we could throw some slants and other easy routes to get Etling settled in instead of fly routes.

We won the last three games by playing Missouri, Southern Miss and Ole Miss. Anyone notice that Southern Miss lost to Charlotte this weekend? By 11 points at home.

I would have liked to have seen Guice, Williams and Fournette on the field at the same time....somehow we forget that Darrell Williams whenever he is used is a very good back whether it is running the ball or blocking.
