It'll either be ESPN news or a sec alt channel. Only open spots Saturday in that window. Could move troy MSU to the alt and do sec network but I'd think CBS wouldn't like that

I agree danfraz. Just seems like if it was the alternate channel, it would be a 3 pm start time and not 2:30. All of the SEC Network start times are 11 am, 3 pm, and 6:30 pm.

I keep hearing all this noise bout CBS. I thought the SEC's tv contract was with ESPN, with CBS only having one time slot during the day & only 1 other at a nite game. Why should the SEC or ESPN give a flip about CBS?

Iirc CBS is the only sec game on at 230 except sec network. And they don't want ESPN airing a sec game during the " best game from the best conference" which is their 230 window.
The sec network game at 3 is generally garbage

CBS doesn't want another SEC game taking away from their ratings

I understand CBS wont like it, but what does it have to do with what ESPN does with a game that was originally supposed to air on their network? Unless there is wording in the CBS contract with the SEC that states under no circumstance will another game air at the same time.

I understand CBS not being happy but why is that of any concern for the SEC/ESPN? Money done been paid & check deposited for that contract.

contracts is why the would have a problem with it
CBS paid a lot of money for that time slot year in and year out for a reason

Not sure about the no circumstances part but yeah contract says games wont air vs CBS timeslot except sec network game, which again is usually the worst sec game of the day

SEC Network has a 3:00 game almost every week already.

If ESPN doesn't accomodate CBS's general requests on a reasonable basis, the next bidding war could be very hostile, and it's possible simple issues like the showing of highlights etc might become contentious.
Note- pretty sure all parties agree that throwing an 11 am game into Baton Rouge on short notice would be terrible. This is the best compromise available.

I hear ya... but it's a last pick game right?
Posted on 10/7/15 at 4:35 pm to Mr.Perfect
Yeah, it's usually the worst SEC game of the week. And with it being 2:30 and not 3 p.m., that just seems to indicate ESPNEWS to me (since that is the only ESPN/SEC network with an open slot at 2:30).

which is probably the reason it took so long to announce it
lawyers were looking for loopholes

CBS has an alternate network...

South Carolina wanted a later game to help with ticket sales, but I bet they didn't want a Saturday night in Death Valley game either

Y'all do realize ESPN can broadcast multiple games on the same channel based on geographic region?
