JT Barrett (4 Star) Dual Threat Quarterback

Position: 7 National: 152 State: 20 (Texas)

Anthony Jennings (4 Star) Dual Threat Quarterback

Position: 6 National: 145 State: 12 (Georgia)

2014 Season (JT Barrett no starts / Anthony Jennings 1 Start prior)

JT Barrett: 150/233 64.4% 2,156yds 26/7 TD/INT QBR: 172.9 (Rushing: 119 att 582 yds 8 TDs)

Anthony Jennings: 80/170 47.1% 1,266yds 9/6 TD/INT QBR: 120.0 (Rushing: 74 att 157 yds 0 TDs)

These are two guys with roughly the same raw potential, rated by recruiting sites very similar players, yet Jennings is "THIS" far behind Barrett?

JT Barrett lit up a solid Michigan State last night, that I think would be in contention in the SEC...

Why does it have to be different?

Is Urban's system somehow better for young, raw QBs?

Why would be recruit a guy for our system that wasn't capable of running our system?

This is a revealing comparison, and one that really needs no additional commentary. Speaks for itself.

Urban does a pretty good job with dual threat QB's.

Just look at what Kyle Allen did yesterday against Auburn.

True freshman in his first SEC game, on the road, against the #3 ranked team in the country.

19/29, 277 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT.

Again, it was his first SEC game, and only the second game he's played in his collegiate career.

Right, but Kyle Allen struggled in his first start at Home against an inferior team.. therefore I like what a&m is doing by giving him the keys. LSU needs to follow suit and give Harris the keys now.. even though he had one bad first start ON the road..

2 different offenses. Do you know how QB friendly the spread is.

If the spread is QB friendly, and we have had issues at QB for (save for Mett) then why have we not adopted some of what makes to spread so QB friendly, in order to make our offense less stagnant?

That is not to say that we should change our offense, but we can adopt from it.

Jennings has embodied the coaches' mentalities of running the ball and preventing turnovers. He's so afraid of turning the ball over that instead of throwing it where his receivers can catch it, he throws it where the receiver may catch it but the defense certainly won't.

You didn't see him take any major chances with the ball until OT where he was slinging it into double coverage.

We need a dam QB

We have two QBs, who were highly recruited... obviously not the issue.

we are recruiting dual threats that are no threat at all

Jennings ran effectively when he had to last night... not the problem.

Who is evaluating this talent

Again, I don't think the evaluation is the problem, I think it may be evaluating FOR OUR SYSTEM

They can develop a quarterback. We can't.

I think he was asked to do more... from the start of the season, which allowed him to build his confidence in the system. It cost them Va Tech, but paid dividends now.

I wonder if Jennings had been given the same opportunity (or Harris doesn't matter) if we would be seeing a different QB out there?
