Frustrating game but I'm biased.

Was a student at LSU 92-96. Skip won these games.
It is what it is. We had the best, the man, the legend. I said it then and I'll say it again, what we did from 1991 to 2000 was legendary. It only happens once in a lifetime; if you're lucky.
Manerie is a good coach, but he is no Skip.

He also lost them too, ask Ben McDonald.

Stop comparing Paul to the greatest coach of all time.

there's like 3 baseball coaches in the sport's history that are comparable to skip, so no shite?

Also skip even admits the game has completely changed. do you think coastal carolina could have been relevant in the 90s?

As the previous poster said, the game has changed but Skip was in a league of his own. His teams had both great pitching & hitting. Small ball didn't exist back in that era. It was all about timely hitting and in championship games, his teams stepped up. No nonsense approach with Skip.

I don't know, but Witchita State was relevant in the 90's.
I'm not comparing coaches rather I'm just trying to calm the critics of Manerie. The level of expectations is off the hook. What we had under Skip was "Special" and a once in a lifetime experience.
I want to win them all, but others teams do as well. Our fan base expects us to win every time we make it to Omaha.
They won't and it is what it is.

Wichita State was a legitimate power in the late 80's/90's under Stevenson. They won a title in 89 and went to Omaha a handful of times after that.

He also lined his pockets, and was a terrible AD. Move on man.

He also didn't have bat restrictions and didn't have to manage as much as PM.

Well that's a lie. Just because Skip didn't let his ego get in the way and let the kids swing away doesn't mean he didn't have to manage. Skip was the first coach of that era to realize that "the 3 run homer" was likely to happen. Skip's offensive philosophy changed in the 90s, and then everyone else learned from him and followed. But what Skip was the best at, was managing the pitching staff. He seemed to always find the right pitcher for the right situation. He made some jaw dropping bullpen decisions that helped the team capture all of those titles.
