Chicago Tribune
So, Jake Godfrey, what's it like for a young man from New Lenox to play his first season of college baseball at a nationally known program like LSU?
"It was an amazing experience," Godfrey said. "It's nothing like I've ever seen before.
"The fans are crazy. We have 11,000 people packing the stands for every game. It's just an amazing experience."
The freshman right-hander who graduated from Providence certainly acquitted himself well in his Division I debut.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Godfrey was 7-1 with a 4.61 ERA for LSU (54-12, 21-8 in SEC). He made 21 appearances, including nine starts.
"My strengths are my confidence on the mound and my mound presence," Godfrey said. "I'm a big guy and there's the intimidation factor. I throw hard and fast, and being big, it's an intimidating factor out there for the hitters."

I hope he can find the plate a bit better and get ahead of the batters more often next season.

He has potential to be very very good

People chalking McKay in as a weekend guy with Lange and Poche are jumping the gun. Godfrey is going to make a run at a weekend spot again IMO.

Not everyone gets to talk to the Chicago Tribune and he was talking to his city, but you have to love his excitement at being at LSU and his confidence.
We will see how he performs in the future but the kid has potential to be a major contributor to LSU baseball.
