I gotta say , even though we haven't generated much of a pass rush ( not counting Key) , the future of LSUs big uglies looks as bright as I can remember. Ed Alexander and Rashard Lawrence will reek havoc on the sec for many years to come .

Has anyone else been disappointed by Lewis Neal this year? For someone with as many sacks as he had last year , he's struggled to get off blocks these 1st couple games. Not sure if he's suited for a 3-4. He just gets swallowed every play so it seems...

Really? Wouldn't have guessed he had that many. I guess I noticed it more in the Wisconsin game .

Neal needs to be standing up and rushing on pass downs.

I have more concern with Gilmore he was getting blown up by JSU. He does not hold the middle very well.

Agreed Gilmore should be relegated to mop up duty.

Well in all fairness to Neal, he's far from a prototypical 3-4 DE. More 4-3 DE. I like Herron and Godchaux at DE. Lawrence is looking like a quality backup there. I'm very surprised we haven't seen Logan at DE.

I agree that Neal is not ideally suited to be a 5 tech. Fortunately we seemed to spend quite a few plays with a 4 man line and Neal back in his old 7 tech spot against JSU and will probably continue to do this against spread teams. Perhaps later in the season one of the freshmen will have played well enough to take over the 5 tech against teams like Bama, Ark and Fla. who rely on a more traditional running game.

Both Alexander and Lawrence look great to me. Both have a quick get off and play with great pad level for freshmen. I too believe they will form a great foundation for the future of our D-line.

I was surprised that Herron didn't seem to get many snaps, if any, at 5 tech during the JSU game. The only time I noticed him he was playing 7 tech on passing downs. I would think he has the potential to be a better 5 tech than Neal.
