Any word at how he is progressing in summer workouts? Hopefully coach O will coach him up and he will live up to his ranking. Last year he was the talk of fall camp with Miles. Any news on Frank?

Was hoping to see him shine last season. Specially the way Miles was taking about him during the fall camp.

Nothing lately but if there's something to be gotten, Orgeron will get it out of him.

I'll be interested to see Herron, Gilmore, and Bain. Hopefully 1 or 2 will make some plays. If Q Thomas is back healthy, I think he will contribute.

Agree. Coach O could motivate a sales force to sell ice to Eskimos. He is that good!

Chalk that up with the Miles-leaks about Jordan Jefferson looking like Joe Montana in Fall Camp before 2010. Or that the 2009 Offensive Line would be one of the best he'd ever coached. Or that Brandon Harris would be able to compete for the starting job last year.
You absolutely, positively cannot trust a word that comes out of his mouth. Just stop trying. He will say anything at any time and he thinks it helps LSU maintain a competitive advantage. In reality it makes him look stupid and as a fanbase, we feel stupid when we look for things that have zero basis in reality to materialize because we expect our HC to be telling the truth.

I think he went South after he stole the bike or borrowed it.......

To be honest I am being exactly that. If you try and actually listen to him or pay attention to what he's saying you'll end up foolish and people won't pay attention to you in conversations. Basing your outlook for the team on what Miles says in the media-or even at TAF or Gridiron events-isn't a way to make yourself look smart or in the know.
Because he just doesn't care enough to tell the truth to his fanbase and the media. It's maddening until you accept it and move on. Just trying to do the guy a favor.

Well you should feel stupid.

If we got just a moderate contribution from these four guys, we'll be a really good defense.

You stated the obvious, and I just thought your response was a little negative . . . but true.

I guess you could say that there is still time for those guys to develop. But if not this year, then when?
LSU brought in several D Linemen in 2013. Of that group, only Lacoture has made any sort of impact. The most troubling part is that it's not like LSU was loaded with a ton of big time veteran players in 2013 and 2014. In both years you had some solid experienced guys, but a clear lack of depth. Despite that lack of depth most of the 2013 DL class were STILL unable to get on the field outside of a few plays here and there
Hopefully with Ogeron on board the DL will come back around. If that happens, this defense can go from good to dominant again. If not, then Les better find away to get the offense cranked up.

Herron is going to shock some people. Despite the rant's bitching about Miles public comments, he actually was turning heads last year. He got into the dog house with the whole bike/fireworks thing, and by the time he had served his unofficial suspension he had injured himself off the field. I expect good production an the new SDE position O/Steele are phasing in with a decent chance he'll be a highlight pass rusher.
The real guy I'm expecting to come out of nowhere though is Greg Gilmore. Coach O has consistently mentioned him in interviews along with Davon G. and Lacouture. He's listed at 6'5" 305 so I tend to believe he just wasn't quite athletic enough for Chavis wanting slimmer quicker DTs who get pressure. He tends to play high and doesn't have great moves, but with good coaching and O utilizing him correctly I think he will be a force in the middle stopping the run.

Square peg round hole, combined with youth. Sometimes in recruiting you just have to get the best player you can and make it work, but now our schemes should fit them better. See my above post on two of those guys, though I do agree it's put up or shut up time for them.

Dude there was nothing wrong with Jordan Jefferson throwing or running ability. It was his decision making. So in a 7v7 camp style setting he probably did look like Montana. But wen you put him in a spot where he had two choices he always made the wrong one. Jefferson was talented man. He gets a bad wrap bc he basically fricked is over on his own in the NC.

He was always a really good safety playing QB.

He had his moments. He played a good game in the 2010 cotton bowl and against Arkansas in 2011. He had a decent season in 2009 despite LSU having a horrible running game by our standards.
His legacy will always be the NC game though, and the delusional fans who think Lee would have fared better.
He was talented and flawed, like most QBs in LSU history.

Herron, Gilmore, Bain, Q Thomas and the pass rush generated from the DE positions are the keys to the team this year. Special teams will be great. Offense will be much improved. Linebackers and Secondary are loaded. Its all about d-line depth for this team and if they can pressure the quarterback and generate tackles for loss.
