Fournette's Heisman Invite Snub

Seeing this year's invitees to NY for the Heisman just reiterates Fournette's snub last year. An incredible year was unfairly defined by one game.
This year's invitees include a good defensive player and a receiver in a Big 12 offense. Had Fournette stayed healthy this year, he would have certainly at least made the trip to NYC.

Coulda shoulda woulda I don't think anyone doubts that but he's been hurt! If I were LF7 I wouldn't give a frick about a stupid trophy because I'm about to get paid!!!!

Had he been healthy for 11 games he gets an invite. That is all that's being implied.

There's no such thing as invite "snubs"
The voters vote, and the top finalists go depending on whether they got a decent chunk of votes or not.
Only those who received a decent chunk of points get invited.
Last year there were 3 players that sucked up nearly 100% of the points, no points for anyone else = no invites for anyone else.
When the field is more wide open, you see more finalists because ballots are more diverse.

Heisman is hands down the most antiquated and overrated award in sports. Never goes to the "best player in college football."

Also, never is a strong word. It very often DOES go to the best player.
Jameis Winston, Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, Reggie Bush, Barry Sanders, Bo Jackson, Hershel Walker, OJ Simpson
names like that sound familiar? It's pretty clear the best player for that season does indeed win it a fair amount of the time.
But it certainly sometimes doesn't.
Any award you win by vote has a ton of politics involved.

Since 1960, only FOUR non RB or QB's have won the award. And while Woodson was listed as a CB, he won the award for his return game as much as he did for anything he did on the defensive side of the ball.
I'm not saying I would not have loved for Fournette to have won it, but it's simply a glamor award given to the offensive player with the gaudiest stats or the biggest hype machine. if it really was about the most outstanding player, would see more defensive players actually not just going to NYC, but winning it.

Not only do you need to be a RB or QB to have a prayer, but you also need to be the most important offensive player on a team making a national title run. Even had LF7 stayed healthy, there's no way he gets it playing on a four-loss team.
That trophy has nothing to do with being the most outstanding player in the country unless you also happen to play for the most outstanding team in the country.

Wrong. Lamar Jackson is going to win it and he's the QB of a 3 loss team. Had Fournette stayed healthy and put up 1,500 yards, he runs away with it this year.
