As most of you already know, Herman Johnson was born at 15+ pounds, making him the biggest baby ever born in Louisiana.

Legend has it that LSU coach (in 1985) Bill Arnsparger offered him a scholarship after learning of this record-breaking birth.

I just wanted to know if anyone who was around then can confirm this?

I just thought it was a pretty cool story considering he did end up playing for the tigers and being a key cog in the 2007 BCS team

What is most interesting is that he was a lineman on Greg McElroy's undefeated teams from middle school through college, right? Well, between those two stories mentioned on every freakin broadcast, they started to blend together.

Worse than watching an Olympics on NBC with all drama, no action

When Herman Johnson played at LSU he still had the record of being the biggest baby born in LA. A friend of mine had a baby at the same time Herman was born, there was recruitment talk outside the nursery from avid LSU fans

This very well could be true, but I know I also heard during a game broadcast on TV, that Glen Dorsey was born weighing over 15 lbs. I dont think they said anything about Dorsey being the biggest.... Never heard any of that about Johnson..

If you never heard that about johnson, you weren't paying attention. They mentioned about every game on TV.
