He's not a guy that has ever been discussed here much, but he had crazy skills and played in the NBA for eight years. He was never the consistent player we'd hoped he'd be but when he was on he was dominant. Watching Tim Quarterman today, I thought of him . Same lanky flashes of brilliance although Ice was bigger. Too bad you can't find much video of him out there.

Imagine Ice Reynolds and Nikita Wilson both on the 1986 final four team. Ice left after 2 years.

One of the first LSU basketball players idolized as a kid.

Reynolds had the most spectacular missed dunk I've ever seen, in terms of vertical leap.

Was in the North Carolina game, Reynolds matched up against Sam Perkins.

There was an alley oop that was way too high, but Ice man went up and got it about 2 inches below the top of the backboard, and clanged it off the rim. I mean, his hand went WAY above the box, and I'd say his fingers were almost a good foot above Perkins, who went up to contest the lob.

I've never seen anyone else ever get that high.

Yep if I recall correctly we held that team to 9 points in first half. Then went on to lose a close one. Strange to remember that.

That was the game that John Tudor wrecked Kenny Smith, right?

It's strange overall, but then again, it's LSU. It's always been that way, as far as I can remember- we'd be so close, so often, only to always find a way to lose the big one (and this goes across all sports). It's why we love Skip and frickin college baseball so much, we finally actually won stuff, instead of always leading up til the end.

Imagine John Williams and Nikita Wilson on the 1986 Final Four Team, because NW wasn't on the floor after failing Math 0092.

Wow! Completely forgot about that guy. I can still hear the PA announcer after he scored.

That game was on a Sunday at noon. My buddy and I camped out all night on the PMAC ramp and got on the first row, right behind Al McGuire (at least I think it was him).

He probably meant imagine if Ice hadn't left early he would have been on the team. If Bun hadn't become ineligible after Christmas he would have been on the team the second half of the season. Those two would have made that team insanely awesome.
