The head coach doesn't need to be a fantastic X's and O's guy. He is the CEO that puts coaches and players in the best position to succeed.

If the head coach has the talent around him, he really only needs to be a catalyst. Let your coordinators do their jobs, and keep guys motivated.

We are not getting Jimbo, Meyer or Saban.

O may be the best left - give him a chance

who really thinks this? People think we should probably compete for the west ever year and win it and the sec at least once every 4 year cycle.

which isn't really unreasonable to win the west once every 4 years. Then we could have a down type year and see progress the next couple and everyone would be fine.

Les got stale and we got stagnated and were putrid on offense. Les easily gets to finish this year if he had brought in a legitimate oc and let him do his work. Instead Les double down on his strategy of execution of his outdated offense.

which is what miles did until around 08. then he got scared and we went into a shell.

You're convinced that he shouldn't be permanent before his first attempt at LSU?

Either he will or he won't. That simple. Who gives a sht at this point. We don't know enough yet to make that decision. He may turn out to be the best man for the job.

People keep saying we need a HC who is offensive minded, but truly we just need a great OC who is allowed to run the offense.

I don't want a coached focused just on one side of the ball. I want a coach who can manage Assistants and Coordinators.

So why wouldn't you want an outside candidate that has been doing that and doing it well for years? You want to give the keys to an interim coach based on the remaining 2 months of the schedule, when others have built a more robust resume'?

And let's drop the "well if he runs the table" talk. We know that's not happening. No it's not impossible but it's so improbable that it doesn't merit serious conversation.

I'd rather have average recruiting with great discipline coaching (Houston and Wisconsin) than great recruiting with average coaching (LSU).
