Are you pissed more because the team/coach/recruits aren't meeting your expectations?

Or because we lost to Bama (who has Saban), you think Miles sucks because he isn't Saban, and we lost recruits to Bama and Bama/Saban hauled in the best class in the country, again?

I think it is 100% the latter. I will get ripped for this, but many LSU fans are just insecure because they wish we still had Saban and it pains them to see him succeed at Bama and take the Bama program to another level at LSUs expense. I think that if Bama had a different coach and were having the exact same success, LSU fans wouldn't be bitching and moaning like many are now about the state of the LSU program (which is probably the best it has EVER been).

sadly, miles will never be able to escape the shadow of saban. at least as long as saban coaches at a competing school. hell, i was in a restaraunt a couple months ago and some blowhard fan (yes, lsu) had a few too many and was all over sabans nuts. this was after the first game and therefore saban, his god, had dropped 2 in a row to miles. it just doesn't matter what miles does, SOME LSU FANS will only remember saban and the times bama wins or gets a recruit from La. saban has not coached lsu for 7 years and this shite continues to go on. saban has the reputation of being the best there is; and i will admit that he is BETTER AT BAMA THAN HE WAS AT LSU. at LSU, he got bored after the NC. it appears that he just gets more intense at bama; i guess his NFL failure is still eating at him.

You've addressed the 'minority' of LSU fans. Those vocal fans are just a hand full of Tiger fans out there and most land on these boards. But they do get the most attention.

Miles has a great record here, both in recruiting and winning. We lost a NCG because we were not ready, out played and out coached. It happens.

I don't give a damn about Saban and Alabama but I don't hate them either.I would bet that we'll be better prepared next time we meet. I know Chavis will again and Miles too.

Until proven otherwise, Miles is a proven winner in my book and many other LSU fans too!

I agree with all of that. But Miles had a chance to put his stamp on the LSU program and to finally silence the critics forever. But not only did we lose to Nick Saban and Alabama, we got humiliated and Les Miles didn't even seem to give his team a chance. Add to that the recruiting season and Nick Saban has totally slapped Les Miles in the face the last month. No matter what happens, nothing will ever change that fact that Nick Saban personally stopped LSU from winning another national title.

Probably an overstatement. I think it is more like 99.3%.

Horse pucky.

And furthermore, I am so glad he has the Lesticles to bash a young qb recruit after leaving Our only hope in the nc game. I will get over this eventually.

I love some Les Miles but he is one heard headed sucker.

Spot on and I think this happens to a lot of fanbases when there is another elite team in your division.

I hate Nick Saban. He is the enemy and he needs to choke on a turkey leg.

I don't believe this to be true. I think Saban is a greedy and extremely egotistical mf that chased down the prestige and the almighty dollar. I do think he learned his lesson from that and unfortunately for LSU (and Les Miles), I think he will be at Bama for a while.

i agree with the OP, but in the back of our minds, we know that Miles is due for a gaff every year.

05 Tennessee
Ole Miss clock
Arky clock
BCS game....team not having a clue of what to do.

break
Had we played OSU, our mindset would have been totally different and you would have seen us break down OSU like we did Oregon.

But the rematch got in our head and we didn't even show up.

It makes some, including me, say that any coach could have done well with this team.

But, there is no other variable to compare Miles to, so we thank him for the 13-1, but always wonder what could have been.

ETA......Add to that, Keil, Davis, Collins, etc and you wonder if they would have defected at all had we shown up on Jan 9.

Things to consider.

I should also hypothesise that the fans down on Les and the program right now most likely have penises that are below average in size. They tend to have an inferiority complex.

No. Not because we lost to Bama. They are a good team, but we beat them once in regular season. I'm pissed because we were forced into a double-jeopardy game on 1/9. And I'm even more pissed because of how LSU played on offense, how the team seemed unmotivated and unprepared, and how *CLM coached, making no adjustments or QB substitutions when we had two very capable QBs rotting on the bench and even Shep who could have led a couple of Wildcat formations to shake things up. If we'd lost playing LSU football, fine. I'd be disappointed but I could have accepted that. But to lose without ever "showing up" is unexplainable and unexcusable. Bama's good but we are good too. And we beat 'em once already.

Nope. Maybe for some, but I'd say for most if LSU lost to anybody the way LSU lost that game on 1/9, LSU fans would be rightly pissed off. Face it, we just didn't play LSU football that night and it wasn't because Bama/Saban were so great. Remember, we were in striking distance going into the 4th quarter. If we'd had any life at all, it might well have been a game with a different outcome.

I can only speak for myself and I am pretty much over it (still can't rewatch the game though) but I do think next year will be huge in how this will affect recruiting skilled position players mainly QB, Reciever, and TE. I was pissed not that we lost but how we lost! And by how I mean CLM did not try everything at his disposal to try and win the game. Everything being give JL a chance hell put RS in at wildcat. Something different than what was getting shut down over and over.

I am mostly pissed because I think we squandered an opportunity to beat Alabama, the DARLINGS of the media, the entitled elite. We let them continue to own that space and that pisses me off. We were underdogs even though we had already beat them and had the better win record going into the BCSNC. It's really only fun being the "underdog" when you pull off the upset.

It takes a long time to earn that reputation and you have to do it one game and one season at a time. But these opportunities don't present themselves every year. And yes, my hopes are up high this year and that scares me. I did not expect a 13-0 run last year and was pleasantly surprised until 1/9 then suddenly felt humiliated. That sucked. Here's to 2012!

Lastly, I don't want Saban as our coach but I do want to whip his arse regularly. He is currently the best there is out there so he and Alabama are who I want to beat.

Final 2011 ranking - Bama #1, LSU #2
Final 2012 recruiting ranking - Bama #1, LSU fell drastically in the last 3 weeks, out of the top 10

Nick Saban has made Alabama a more attractive place for prospective recruits, remember that this is Les Miles strongest attribute. Alabama has won 2 National Titles in the last 3 years. LSU has gone 1-2 in bowl games and finished outside of the top 10 in 2 of those 3 years.

It's not a complex, it's reality.
