For any coaches on here, when do you develop your philosophy??

Is it from days as a player?? Is it from mentors as you work your way through the business? Is it after seeing what is successful? I ask because I would imagine Art Briles and Les Miles/Saban are close in age and went up thigh the same decades of football. Yet their styles are about as 180 as they can be. How does a coach "settle" on a philosophy and style?

Didn't Saban change his philosophy from 4-3 to 3-4?

Generally what you are most comfortable with and what best suits the style of players you have.
