Tiger Stadium isn’t the only building getting expanded. LSU’s football operations facility — including the weight room and locker room — is getting a facelift.
The school is expanding and renovating the 10-year-old facility on Skip Bertman Drive. The Tiger Athletics Nutrition Center, meanwhile, is back on schedule and could break ground as early as this fall.
On the east side of the facility, facing Tiger Stadium, the weight room will be expanded by at least 20 percent and include a second-floor mezzanine with windows overlooking the driveway into the facility.
On the west side, facing the Mississippi River and practice fields, the team’s locker room will be completely renovated, and the training room and second-floor coaches’ meeting rooms will be expanded.
Tiger Athletic Foundation is funding the project. Rick Perry, TAF president and CEO, said the organization has raised $4 million since starting the fundraising for the football operations expansion six months ago.
The project doesn’t have a time frame or estimated cost since it’s in the early stages of design, Nunez said.
“We’re assessing the cost,” he said. “We don’t have a dollar amount.

Nutrition center is much needed.

Good to hear. The FB Ops building should be spruced up every 8-10 years to stay ahead of the arms race.

I really like the idea of a nutrition center.

always have. yes, i'll give money to the football program. i'm sorry, I don't have any money to donate to the academic side, etc, etc
we, as an alumni base, really need to step it up and stop depending on just the wealthy guys. if every alum donated $120 a yr more it would make a HUGE difference.

I hope the nutrition center ends up being brick like in the rendering. So tired of this beige stucco crap they keep doing

Yes:
1) When you are too embarrassed to start building 'needed' buildings because you are at the same time screaming bloody murder about cuts to higher education.
2) Or when your students are protesting the same cuts, pleading poverty, while at the same time anxiously awaiting their new $85 million 'lazy river,' (shaped in the letters lsu, of course) et al.
Congrats: lsu now stands for 'liberace' state university.

Football makes a profit and donates surplus to the academic portion of the school. Keeping it an elite program will keep it making profit, thus providing return on investment that positively affects the entire university.

Then why was the nutrition center building delayed?

What about the "LSU Cribs" video on YouTube? Surely they will film a new one.

Can't wait for construction to take twice as long as projected.

The nutrition center will include a large dining room, kitchen, lounge area and a “fueling station” open extended hours, according to renderings. A concrete plaza encircles the building, which adheres to the campus’ Spanish-style architecture.
The facility, to be located between Nicholson Drive and the train tracks, along Skip Bertman Drive, will serve all LSU athletes. Athletes currently eat in student dining halls. Most Southeastern Conference teams have athlete-only dining halls or are in the process of building athlete-only dining halls, said associate athletic director Eddie Nunez said.

The Napoleonic Complex is flowing out of this jealous jackass, because ULaLa has nothing more than pumped up Division 1-AA facilities just La Tech. ULM understands what they are, unlike ULaLa and Tech and that is why they are respected by most LSU fans.

The new rec center was funded by student fees. Again, your point?
