"That" game will be the barometer for the remainder of the season.

at this rate im taking things one week at a time. not trying to get ahead of myself with how this team is looking

MSU was as good a barometer as there can be. First test, everything to prove and then to flop that badly.
What do people think they're going to see vs UF? I think this team gets hit with adversity and folds. I don't see that mentality changing in the course of a couple of weeks.

NOT ONE GAME will define the season....
We could lose a game and improve week by week...then be all right.
so many think they can see into the future...and always in a negative way.
I do not count negative things until they happen, or you will attract negative results.
Let's back our ONE LOSS only team and see what happens.

Out of division games are less defining than in division games.

if we lose the season is basically over

Yeah Florida has proven twice that they don't let adversity wreck their game... they keep battling and come out on top. Something we can't say about the tigers that fold up like a lawn chair the moment someone stubs their toe. The swamp is gonna eat these kids alive l.

agreed, but a better indicator is both Florida and Auburn. After those two games, we'll have a pretty clear picture.

That is possible, we could. You're assuming the most optimistic outcome with no additional injuries.
I think I'm assuming the most realistic outcome. Games get tougher from here. Injuries pile up.
I've seen teams start off red hot and have close calls later in the year, because of what I mentioned above about tougher games and injuries. I can't recall when I've seen it happen the other way, and I don't know what would be the impetus behind that type of season.
I guess that's where I differ from a lot of you. What I'm expecting has to be supported by a large body of evidence, not anecdote. The more results the better.

Frick Florida and their chartreuse beaver toothed shark molesting coach, and their jorts wearing boy band fan club.

Right now I'd be happy with a win vs Troy

It would be consistent with the overall soft play and lack of toughness we have seen so far. There's no reason to assume they're any tougher mentally than they are physically.

Every game the Tigers play in the week will be the barometer for the rest of the season. It's started with State and now with Troy. Don't overlook your current week opponent yet.

The season is already defined as bad. What we are hoping for, but is yet to be seen, is that it will also be a rebuilding season. Not every bad season is a rebuilding one. If their play improves over the rest of the season, that will be a good sign that we're rebuilding. If not, then all we can hope for is a great recruiting class. I've seen we have three OL commitments for 2018. That number needs to at least triple, and not just have a bigger number, but they also have to be good players. That is the key, as clearly spelled out by Orgeron.

you do know it took a miracle for LSU to win in the swamp in 2004, 2010 and 2014.
so if a miracle doesn't happen 2017, how can that define a season.

Only if you think this team has a chance to compete for the west.
So, do you think this team has a realistic chance to compete for the west?

FL, TN, ARK, OM and AtM are BAD football teams. AL and AU are the only hurdles.
9 - 3 with as 8 - 4 downside
