it was pretty bleak because saban left us at a terrible time
a month or so earlier and LSU would have had Spurrier
waited too long and all that BS with Huizenga flying into BR on the jet was infuriating.
To this day, I still think we could have kept
in Baton Rouge if Bertman would have opened the pocket book a little more. He didn't realize what he had there and tried to be cheap. (Same reason he let Tiger Stadium degrade to an embarassing level)
I distinctly remember him saying that LSU "Wasn't going to get into a bidding war with the Dolphins for Saban." Blame Skip for that (Should have went to TAF and come up with a much better package) and blame
for prolonging the agony far too long. It takes Two to Tango.
While all that nonsense was playing out, Florida hired Urban and USCe hired Stevie Visor, both of whom LSU could have procurred the services of, or least had a legitimate shot at.
Everything worked out fine though, since our AD and so many LSU fans are OK with just "Competing for Championships", two loses a year, Chicken Bowl's and yearly game management fiasco's on National Television. That's OK. We're arse kickers at "Competing."
Meanwhile, over to the Northeast a little ways, it's 3 out of the last 4 and counting.
Cam Cameron to the rescue, hopefully!
