Muschamp seems to do well when he goes to a new school.

If not, perhaps that is a sign that Miles shouldn't have hired first year DC's.

Hmmmmmm.

Is Texas' defense consisdered great? And LSU's defense was Saban's and Auburn's was Tubbies.

I didnt expect an awesome defense but a defense that was stingy and didnt give up 50+ points in games.

I would settle for an average SEC D this season

Tony Franklin, 2008. Now that man could shut down an offense in its tracks!

This year they held the 2,3,6, and 7th ranked offenses in the NCAA to lower scores than normal and beat all of the them but Texas Tech.

pretty much any dc that is good will show improvement through out the year.

there is no fricking excuse for mallveto to be this bad. its not like they just got here and don't know our talent. they know the players and they are responsible for the talent. so your topic is a big fricking fail nice try though to harm LSU and think its a good idea to keep arse clown 1 and 2.

Stoops is an interesting story. Bob Stoops first yr as co-DC was at Kansas St in 1991. He was named assistant coach and co-DC in 1995. His was the only defense to shut down Nebraskas offense in '95. Nebraska literally obliterated UF in the Jan '96 MNCG. That's why SOS hired the guy in 1996 as DC.

No, but the defense he took over was also significantly worse than we were last year, statistically, and probably worse than we are this year, depending on how we finish out.

He didn't inherit players who were members of a unit that finished 3rd in total defense the previous year.

Stoops was at K St before UF. I don't remember anybody really slowing down that 95 Nebraska off. though.

Can anyone name any DC's who were ever successful at DC after serving as SC-Coord, instituting the crappunt and allowing blocked punts (which cost us againts UF in 06) and PRTDs (which cost us against Bama and Ole Miss in 07) and generally sucking as SC-Coord then getting promoted to CoDC and actually succeeding?

Even our old DC had his share of problems starting at LSU and the SE conference...but he learned fast and learned to attack...The talent is here...it's all in how you use it.

in the SEC, you can not read/react....
too much speed..they would have already gone by you or gained 4-5 yards.

UR right the D MUST attack.

What do you mean? Stoops def held '95 Neb to less than 50 pts. That same offense laid 62 on UF.
