On Defense...It was business as usual on offense with a Senior QB and veteran wrs, but the defense being young with alot of first time starters against a pro QB in Murray they were over their heads. It was alot of confusion going on, the playmakers we have on D (Beckwith, Mills, etc) are just far too inexperienced in that enviroment, they will get better

We signed these kids to be able to handle that environment. It wasn't the environment by the way. The defense looked the same the first 3 games

Beckwith wasn't involved.
Mills started all last season. This was his 18th game as starter.

While I agree home field was a factor, it wasn't a factor in them scoring 44 points.

Maybe losing 8 defensive players to the NFL draft DOES impact the quality of team's defense.... just sayin'

The defense is clearly not as good this year, but the players are inexperienced. They will come along and either:

a. they will improve and LSU's defense will be stout again

or

b. they will replaced by younger, more talented players when they are up to "game speed".

We'll be fine.

Yea point being Beckwith could have made a difference physically but maybe wasn't ready in the coaches eyes, and I know Mills has played alot but he is still a true sophmore

You know this year's defense isn't all that much. But your heading may very well be the closest thing to one plausible explanation I've seen since last night. I truly hope you are right, because this will improve with time and experience. I just hope we see that improvement begin next Saturday.

UGA had scored 40+ in something like 12 of the last 16.

Considering we didn't log one QB hurry all game, Beckwith should have logged some time at DE. I bet the coaches are regretting that today.

At this point I'm ready to see White and Robinson at CB, Beckwith at MLB/DE, and perhaps even Jefferson at S (although admittedly I'm not sure what RJ is made of yet)

We know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Welter and Collins are not SEC level defenders. Micah Eugene has SEC talent but isn't smart enough to harness it at this point. Time to clear the bench, because we have a talent problem right now. It's past the point where you can logically argue that some of these guys just need more game experience.

Maybe because the offense we played was pretty good.

The best offense we will probably play all year outside of JFF or a game against Oregon. Plus it was in Athens as some stated a place were they score 40 at will

It looked worse because the talent LSU faced was significantly better than those other games. Fact is that this defense lacks leadership and is a big time communication issue.
