Taking two sons to their first LSU game as Christmas presents. I can't wait for them to unwrap the tickets. They hate Notre Dame. They are 11 and 12. We'll be road tripping with Yoohoo and Funyuns...mom's not there pimping the carrots!

I can still remember going to my first bowl game in 95. I was so excited to finally see us in a bowl. Im glad Les was able to bring the gift of 90s joy back to kids that have grown up with winning records.

Solid gift. Funyuns are an essential road trip snack, along with Munchos. Buy a small bag, or your tongue will be so raw from the salt that you will not enjoy a good meal for a couple of days.

Hopefully they will be able to enjoy all of the pregame and tailgating activities, whatever is offered at a bowl game. Hell, perhaps OT fellow brethren might have some ideas

ETA: I think it is kick arse that they don't know anything. We did something similar when taking our boys to Disney World, we put obscure clues into a card and subsequently other things and created a scavenger hunt across the house until they finally found the gift, and they went ape shite crazy when they realized what the gift was.

My family moved from Baton Rouge when I was 12. My dad made it a point to try and bring us to ONE LSU a game a year. It happened to be the BOWL games. Unwrapping Peach Bowl T Shirts and tickets is something I'll never forget! Great Idea!

As much as I can, I like to help create great memories for my children. Win or lose, this should be one. I'm almost as excited as when I believed in Santa.

Awesome! My second LSU game was against Notre Dame in the Indy Bowl, 1997. Loved it. Eat a funyun for me!

ETA: I was 13 for my first, 15 for second.

(looks around in a confused state)

Aw man…my bad.

It does sound like a cool gift and a great surprise for the kids. My dad did that for me for the Sugar Bowl in 1985 vs. Nebraska. Coolest surprise ever.

Well....I'm from Morgan City and that wouldn't have been a problem between 1972-1995, but in 2014 I'll be driving down from Michigan (escaping the in-laws for a couple of days). Live in VA now....hence the name.
