Finally putting the Paul Mainieri myth to rest.

Say what you want about the guy. Make fun of him all you want; but the guy can prepare a team to make a run in May; which gives him chances at a national seed or tournament chances. You cannot deny he is a capabale coach of putting his team into being contenders for a national title. But that should never be in question because...
The guy even won a national championship at LSU and clearly has a mind for baseball. And whether that mind has to do with straight probabilities or a feel he has or something he may have seen; the guy is an excellent baseball coach. Sometimes he makes a mistake or his players do; but that is baseball.
We often forget how sweet it is to have something to look forward to after the winter months of miserable Johnny Jones basketball; and our boys of summer, still playing their hearts out for their coach in June says something about just how good we have it. Unless he fails to be competent in his program, he deserves our benefit of the doubt. The numbers speak for themselves guys.
Here is to our great baseball coach, Paul Mainieri, who has successfully coached another outstanding season here at LSU! and to his players who have carried on their legacy in one of the most historic baseball programs in college baseball!

You are wasting your time. Less than 5% of the people that post here know anything about baseball.

So the NCAA tournament doesn't matter? Season over? Mission accomplished?

Pardon me. I thought the idea was to make a run in June.
My bad.
(great coach but winning the SEC tourney isnt the ultimate goal)

Yep, glad i went, glad we won, but that isnt how he will be judged, fair or not

You counting yourself among the great uneducated? just wondering...

Which is a reflection of a poor fan base, not a poor coach.

Go back to the digpile thread since that's what you know best.

LSU has never won a national championship in a year that we dogpiled at the SEC Tournament. Fact.
Oh wait, never mind. You showed your incoherent knowledge there too.

CPM is hilariously under appreciated and definitely deserves some credit for getting things going here down the stretch as he seems to do every year. At the same time, this is an Omaha-caliber team and anything short this year will be a disappointment. Not sure why it can't be both

No doubt about the fact he gets us ready to play when it counts. The lack of success in Omaha is mainly due to a shitty park and the pairity in college baseball now. I just hope we can stay hot for 3-4 more weeks

excellent post! I think Mainieri is a great college baseball coach and i'm glad he's at LSU.
we shouldn't worry about his detractors because they will do what they do unless we win every NC.

You were easily one of the most vocal in shitting on this team and staff throughout the season. FWIW

You act like it's private equity acquisitions and analysis. This is baseball. I've been around long enough to know it doesn't take a genius to coach this game. Just someone dedicated to learning and mastering the angles/matchups and can teach.

I hope this is the year, because I actually think he's a very good coach. And I think LSU could struggle finding a better replacement.
That said, 2009 to 2017 is a long time for LSU baseball. 31-6 SECT record is awesome, but LSU baseball is judged on winning Regionals, Super Regionals and making an impact in the CWS. These have been more of the struggles.

This will never happen as long as he's at Lsu
Posted on 5/28/17 at 6:58 pm to Errerrerrwere
He will fold like a Lufkin ruler at the CWS

Its not a poor fanbase. Its a fanbase that has come to expect excellence. We are the cream of the college basebal crop. We are the yankees, the kentucky basketball team, the lakers, whatever you call it
