I am finally making it back to TS for a game, taking my 16 yr old son to his first game in TS against ARKY. Last time I was here, we had one upper deck, so needless to say it has been a while. Had to move up North, had to give up my season tickets. 87 graduate, can't wait to get back. Life happens, thus the long time between visits.
Plan is to fly in Friday, take him to Georges on Perkins. Saturday, hoping for night game, head over early, eat at Chimes, then walk around. Hoping to find a tailgate. Sunday, Louies then fly home.

I have a parking pass near the Softball field.

Based on where I am parking, what would be the best location to stay for ease of getting to and from that spot.

Fairfield Inn or Springhill Suites on Essen Park near OLOL
Residence Inn Town Center
Courtyard on Acadian

Check for availability at Staybridge Suites on Nicholson

Either of these hotels are going to be a pain to get back to after the game.

Staybridge on Nicholson would be your best bet, but they fill up early so call now to see if they have anything available.

I figure traffic will suck either way, especially after reading comments here over the years, but was more curious if it would be easier to get to that lot coming over to Burbank, or coming down Stanford, at least I think those are the routes?

And, is the area on Essen Park ok? I really don't plan to spend a lot of time there.

May also want to look into some hotels downtown

The downtown area is way better than it was back in the day, and it'll probably be easier to get to after the game than some of the other options you listed.

I don't spend much time there, but it seems like a nice area.

Appears Staybridge is not an option at the moment. I am using points, and those I listed are the ones available.

I would say go with the hotels on Essen. The parking lot by the softball field pushes you to River Road. Take that to Gardere, then on to Highland, scoot on over to Staring, and then you'll be on Essen near your hotel.

I appreciate the responses thus far, I really can't wait to get back.

We have tickets on East side lower. if by chance I wanted to bring in a small bit of brown liquor to calm the nerves, how hard is it?

I was thinking that a well when I looked at the map. I already have a room there, but saw the ones on S. Acadain open up, and it was closer so thought I would seek info from the experts.

As long as you don’t draw attention to yourself you will be fine

No, no attention will be drawn to me. I will have my son with me, but I do like to have a beverage.

Y'all have been awesome, I really appreciate the feedback.

I think I will stick with Essen Park area based on the route.

Downtown hotels would be easier.

Personally I'd do Towne center, you can just take college or hop on stanford, or check downtown. Don't stay off Essen, it's a lil further away.

I'm just saying that as someone younger. But if that traffic does push you to river road I guess it won't be so bad.
