There is while lot of single-mindedness going on n this thread. Dinardo brought back the magic and with it some solid recruits. Saban took over and put in place the additional items needed to expand on Dinardo had begun and won a NC in the process. Yes, I agree it was probably tougher to achieve than the one Miles won, but it shouldn't belittle CLM's accomplishment. Miles continued to run a great program including a NC all whilst handling some tough situations (Katrina etc.). The wheels fell of towards the end for Miles. He still left us in great shape as a program. If Coach O Handles his business, no harm done.

I'm willing to bet that the Negatigers will remain Negatigers, irrespective of who's coaching and who's playing. Negatigers demand perfection and, falling short of an unending streak of 49-0 victories, there has to be something wrong with one or more of the coaches. The fact that other teams have good coaches and players who also want to win should never be a factor in keeping us from being perfect.

Because its youre opinion. Being an opinion immediately makes it the exact opposite of a fact.

i don't think recruiting will fall off. In fact if we get a coach that brings in a better offense I think it will get better.

Please explain how 4 top 16 finishes in 5 years means lsu isnt a top 25 program. My god our fans are dumb.

Where is Lsu ranked right now, when miles left? Not in the top 25? Oh ok, that's what I thought.

these labels of positigers and negatigers are inane.

are these words even definable in webster's dictionary.

a part of me wants to see the program go into the shitter. i dont understand how this compete in national title every year mentality came into play.

As I said, Texas, Notre Dame, Nebraska. Tennessee. Florida, Georgia and shortly LSU have or will learn what the former coach brought to the table.....not saying Miles was the best-but his record was the best in LSU and SEC history. Gonna be hard for the new coach to top that-but ill be for him instead of against him....like many of you will be mid season of next year. you cant help yourselves....

A lot of it was based in long term frustration concerning our offense under CLM. With someone new in place, most fans will probably give a brief grace period (see Aranda). If the offense is still a perceived dumpster fire, then negativity will reign. Still, I just can see us being worse than we were prior to the change. However, some people are just assholes and love frickng misery so don't expect the negas to become extinct.

Good to know you are happy leading a life content with mediocrity.

Talk to me about Alabama, Ohio st, Florida st, Clemson, Wisconsin while you're at it.

Clemson, Wisconsin, Ohio State and Florida State have won 2 national tirles between them....Wisconsin has been mediocre for lots of years in the big 10. I am not pro miles as much as I am anti negapumpers who do their best to drag a program down....Les came out of left field when he was named HC....the next guy will too and you can start as soon as the press conference is held. Have any of you looked at the depth chart as Houston or FSU......Herman and Jimbo are looking for a nice raise. We better hire DALSU

alabama and Clemson both had to fire multiple coaches in between ones that won conference championships.

Wisconsin. What have they done?

Who said anything about winning national titles? Your first post certainly didn't. Why are you bringing it up now?

All of the program's I listed are in as good or better states now than when the previous coach left them. That's what your original post was implying is probably not going to happen at Lsu. Don't let your happiness with mediocrity force you to move the goalposts now.

Texas - should be doing much better than they are. They aren't far off IMHO

Notre Dame - the past, and their arrogance, have been their undoing. Cold weather hurts

Nebraska - Not enough high quality athletes to go around

Tennessee - Solid history. Not enough in state talent. It takes a great recruiter or some $

Florida - FSU, Miami, and even UCF and USF have hindered the gators. Recruiting

Georgia- we will see. The east is weak. I see a season or two of transition and then success

LSU - Good history, shite pot of recruits that aren't shared. I say 8 wins are a fire able offense in most seasons. 3 gimmes, MSU, and an east opponent generally means 5 wins as a base (6 with the neutral site win- which should occur in most season imo). That means 3-3 versus the rest of the west and UF. With what we offer 9 wins is a minimum in my mind. This isn't the same LSU of the 80's and 90's (which I sat through!). Could it be dicked up - yes. Is that likely- I don't think so. We are better situated than all of the above teams except maybe Texas and that includes Notre Dame most years. Just my two cents though.

Alabama and Clemson were both perennial top 25 teams when they fired their previous coach. The new coach has brought both of them to new levels.

Wisconsin has done just as much as Nebraska or Georgia I suppose.

We'll argue about this for years and nothing will be resolved. Those of us who were ready for a change have a laundry list of reasons why. Those who wanted the status quo can always point to his record, BCS title, and SEC titles. The administration decided what they thought was best and I agree with the decision.

I'm excited to see what we'll learn Saturday night. What changes will we see? How will the change be reflected on the field? Once we watch a few gams, we'll get a better idea of what was going on.

Our last 5 years have a better win loss record than Saban's tenure.

Keep typing. youre showing your lack of cfb knowledge.

Yeah, I'm going to have to call bullshite on this.

Miles in the last 5 years: (numbers would be much worse if not fired)
13 SEC losses
16 total losses
EOY rankings: 13th, 14th, un, 17th, (currently unranked)
Avg ranking 19th
bowls 2-3

Saban over 5 years:
12 SEC losses
16 total losses
EOY rankings: 22nd, 7th, un, 1st, 16th
Avg ranking: 14th
bowls 3-2

I was a Les guy right up until the national championship game agains't Alabama in 2011. It was pretty obvious that Saban had analyzed our previous game and put in changes that made them dominant. Les hadn't changed a thing which was ultimately what brought him down. The poor time management lasted right up until his last game. The poor play calling, lack of any imagination and his style of playing not to lose instead of playing to win all came to haunt him. It was all downhill right up to today.
