A favorite of mine. Glad he has made the bigs. Always thought he would have a long career in the bigs.

Still kicking myself for not going to see him play with the Sky Sox before he got called up.

No kidding. His hit down the leftfield line against Texas in 2009 comes immediately to mind.

His last regional at the box I sat behind a scout for the regional and super. Can't remember what team. Want to say Arizona. He had a sheet with highlighted names of who he was watching. DJ wasn't highlighted so I asked him about him. This isn't an exact quote but he said something to the effect of, "he's a solid ballplayer but he'll never make the majors. He'll toil around in Single and double A for a while but that's about it. He's long and lanky but doesn't have the bat to play the corners, doesn't have the speed to play middle infield or outfield - where is a team going to put him?"

Got to watch him a bunch last year at Coors Field. Always nice to see a Tiger at the highest level. Looking forward to this season.

That CWS versus Texas will always stand out in my mind. And you are correct; the word "clutch" is the word I'd use to describe him.

This scout is an absolute tard for not believing he can play 2B. DJ isn't a world beater by any means and he doesn't have a bat to profile anywhere but the middle, but this is incredibly dismissive for a scout.
