I love the confidence that many posters have leading into this weekend's game with Alabama. It is a lot better than the Fire Miles threads of the past.

However, how realistic are they really? Yes, LSU has improved offensive line play and has a better Quarterback than in the past and they have Leonard Fournette. But this is a solid team in Alabama. LSU is not going to steamroll them. Alabama will not steamroll LSU, either. It will be a difficult to win this game and I think everyone secretly realizes this.

The injuries to key players have me concerned

I think LSU can win if they do certain things well. They will have to stop Derrick Henry and be able make positive yards on 1st down. It will go down to the wire. This time, just maybe LSu will make the play at the end of the game to prevail.

LSU board has game predictions with LSU winning. Bama board has Bama winning. I do not get it.

It's almost like they have to play the game before we find out who wins!

With the way that both sides of the ball have been playing for both teams, and barring some horrendous special teams, LSU has looked to be a combined better team than Bama. Alabama's offense is not intimidating. Not saying they won't get yards, but people don't realize how good our defense is too. One or two blown coverages for big gains may happen, but this defense holds well.

Our offense is also the best that Bama has faced, by a fair margin, while that will be a defense that is similiar in strength to a Florida team we played. This is also the best defense Alabama has played, while that will be a mediocre offense compared to some of our competition.

You can understand the confidence. Alabama has looked more vulnerable than LSU in a lot of ways. The only reason their team destroys some people is that ridiculous defense. However, Florida has shown to be able to do the same, and we made that defense look mediocre.

I feel LSU can still lose, but LSU has the better team. Obviously, any games can go either way, but LSU has shown to be more balanced and still top contendors on both sides, especially in the rushing aspects.

All I know is that I have watched LSU, except for Mett's senior year, push Bama around the field and take lead after lead. All without the threat of ever completing a pass. LSU plays with max effort when it comes to Bama, year after year. Now we have a great QB and people are worried. Tigers are coming to play regardless of who is on the field.

Very.

LSU has played toe to toe with BAMA the entire time Saban has been there. In most cases, even when LSU lost it took a miracle for BAMA to prevail. The NCG took a god damned rematch that many felt they had not even earned the right to.

Essentially, the only program in the country that has stood it's ground with BAMA this entire time is us...and a damn sliver of change towards our side and we're holding crystal balls and the complete narrative is changed.

In short, it has never required a miracle for us to beat them, and it requires that even less this season.

LSU fans...those not cursed with BAMA fear...have every reason to be confident in this team's ability to roll in there and come how with a win.

We have had them on the ropes with worse teams over the past few years. So this year seeing Alabama maybe falling off a little from those past teams and LSU being stronger, is a good reason to see why we have a good shot to end their streak against us.

From what I've seen, Political Talk usually takes the cake for false bravado, but the Rant may be the leader this week.

This is probably the worst Alabama team since Nick Saban has been at Bama....possibly excluding 2007.

You have absolutely no idea how this game will go. I have a strong feeling that LSU will not leave the game in doubt in the closing minutes of the game....that's my opinion...but I have no idea if that will happen....as you don't either...so don't state is as fact.

Very realistic. LSU has a better team than Bama. Does that mean LSU will win? NO. But, there is obviously reason for LSU fans to be optimistic.

That's not what false bravado is.

One of the main parts of the false bravado that I can't relate to is the way that some people want to have a delusional misconception of how good Alabama is. Arguing that they are overrated in the polls is one thing, but trashing their players is just delusional. They have great players, and it's not media hype. They have proved it on the field. That's what makes this a big game. Going against top competition is one of the peak aspects of the sport. There is a reason why great sprinters often clock their best times when they are racing a lane over (or a few lanes over) from other great sprinters. One of the most exciting parts of a game like this is to see who elevates their play against top competition.
