False.

Kentucky only got 6 hits off Lange.

How this guy won SEC Pitcher of the Year is way beyond me. Lange ate this dude for breakfast in the regular season, and obviously tonight as well.

Lange didn't face him in the regular season.

I'm talking about the entire regular season, not head to head match-up.

To be fair to the kid, there are at least a dozen guys I would have put before him.

He did have a couple of very good innings. 10K's in 5 innings is nothing to laugh at, but his end of inning celebrations were a little premature.

Tigers owned his arse last night.

he's talking about their numbers for the whole season. Look at the guys era! After tonight, he's at damn near 4. Compare that to Lange
Basically, it looks like he benefited from his team peaking early. Lange had to pitch with zero run support the early part of the Season. He was still spectacular, but the rest of the team didn't help him much by scoring runs. Now they are. I'd rather peak late than early

Hjelle's ERA going into last night was 3.17. His ERA now is 3.87. I'm still not quite sure how he won SEC POY over guys like Faedo, Mize, Raby, Thompson, Lange etc. Even before last night, he wasn't top 15 in ERA or OPP BA. he was 9th in strikeouts. Really the only overly impressive category was he was 2nd in wins.
