That's the Football Power Index
so by this formula, UGA is slated to win the conference at a 25% chance.
Also, I guess that LSU is projected to win the West with a higher % than Bama?? And, a 14% chance to win the conference, which is 2nd obviously.

Auburn should be ahead of three of those SEC teams IMO. And yes, power rankings are not to be confused with predicted order of finish.

We have so much talent on this team we could be number one.
all the elite schools have tons of talent. Sure, that's a huge component, but there's more to it than just that.

It is just crazy and wonderful how much things change. Texas used to rule their state with A&M following as the #2. Today, both Texas and A&M are just fighting to be #3 behind Baylor and TCU.

In my opinion, it's easier to mask the deficiencies of your football team with a great quarterback than the other way around.

we have some future first round picks on this team. All the elite schools don't have that.

I'll take it. Now them tigas betta play like it.

And of the two teams not in that top ten, one was ranked number 1 for a spell last year and the other played for the natty title the year before.

Prediction:
We'll finish 10-2 with losses likely to Bama and Ole Miss. We then beat up on some poor bastard in a New Year's Six bowl game. Finishing 11-2 and inside the top Ten (#5 perhaps) on final rankings.

Any poll that has that many teams above Auburn is useless.
Auburn is still overrated like hell. I'd out them between 13th and 16th.

power rankings don't mean jack

LSU being number 5 is laughable. Did they explain the reasoning for this?

come on, now. No, not "all" elite schools have first round picks, but many/most do. Over the past 3 years, here's the number of first rounders from a sampling of the "elite" schools. There might be others with multiple first rounders, but I just looked for the biggest names:
FSU 6
Alabama 6
Florida 5
Oregon 4
Clemson 4
LSU 3
Georgia 3
USC 2
Ohio State 2
Texas A&M 2
Auburn 2

So Mississippi St is completely out of the top 5 even though they were #1 for a few weeks last year and bringing back a heisman hopeful at QB?
Posted on 7/21/15 at 2:53 pm to Biggmatt78
<--Ole miss who loss this guy at 9? Arkansas who loss their best defensive players from last year at 10? Makes sense

Their starters were like 80% seniors

Really...Last I looked they finished with the same record as LSU did last year... They WILL score a ton of points and have 8 starters back on D with Muschamp coming in... No way AU is overated at 17... They belong in the top ten before LSU does based on just ONE thing....QB PLAY.... AU will have a better qb starting the season than LSU will...
You LSU blind homers drive me crazy... They have a ton of talent....But trying to run the ball all game long will not cut it..... And if they start AJ they are going backwards IMO... He has hit his ceiling..I don't see him getting any better... Miles just needs to start Harrias and let him take his lumps and get valuable experience..If it means we lose to MSU ans AU....So be it... Getting Harris experience is more important than trying to wing it with AJ............

Yes, although the reason the percentage for UGA is so much higher than LSU or Bama is because the east is easier and the formula gives Georgia a much better chance of making it to Atlanta, thus a better chance of winning there (you have to make it there to win).
