Highly unlikely to lose three games this fall with the talent, coaching salaries, and facilities we have. It will not happen. We might lose one game at the most.

TigerAlum93...that is a huge statement. It is a guarantee LSU will be in the playoffs. I am optimistic as well, but!

We moved the ball well against Ole Miss - total yards gained favored LSU. Those 3 turnovers killed us though.

This is a lie. It was 38-17 with 3:22 left in the 3rd quarter. Over 200 yards and 39 (half) plays came after this point. Ole Miss was up 38-17 and was just wasting time at the end. LSU piled a bunch of useless stats and no TDs at the end of the game while Brandon Harris threw 17 incompletions and an int in like 28 or 29 passes.

It's amazing the standard people hold the defense to but refuse to do the same with our offense

Why is that amazing?

Defense is the base to a great team, especially in college. Even the best offenses have inconsistent nights, but you can't give up 30 points/game 3 weeks in a row.

Might have a point in the Bama game.

Arkansas had about 30 more seconds in ToP than LSU while rushing for 7.5 ypc.

LSU had the ball for about 13 more minutes against Ole Miss. Another game where we couldn't stop the run.

This is just wrong. If Miles shits the bed this year he's gone. Let's say he goes 7-5...he's fired before the last game.

I know this might fall on deaf ears, but Miles is not going anywhere.

And here's your December 2016 excuse for the sunshine pampers who are predicting today that we win it all in 2016.

"Yeah, 3 losses, but we had the toughest schedule in the country!!!"

*passing game was actually better than it appeared

I think it was about what it appeared to be. We had some pretty good passing games, but during the meat of our schedule for the last five games, we had 4 TDs and 6 INTS. Against aTm in the home finale, we had 83 passing yards and were just barely hanging on 13-6 until Fournette scored with just over two minutes left in the game. When you only have 83 passing yards at home in the last game of the regular season, you're passing game is pretty poor.

LSU will have a ton of talent next year, but the secondary needs to play better and the passing game needs to be much better and more consistent. The Bama, Arkansas and Ole Miss games will be challenging as usual.

And you can't score 14, 16, and 17 points during those 3 weeks.

Even the best defenses have inconsistent nights too. Alabama gave up 40 in the NC and still won.

To win a title now there is going to be at least one game during the season where your defense is going to give up points and your offense will have to score to keep up

True, the passing performance really fell off from the Bama game through the end of the regular season, and I remember wondering why Harris had lost the touch he had shown during earlier games. Then I read he suffered a sports hernia in the Bama game and played through it. I would suspect that had something to do with his declining performance. Of course, we were playing some pretty good defenses in those games, but Harris played very well against Florida's secondary, which was one of the best in the country. Remember, after a rough start, he played pretty well in the bowl game, esp. the second half. Even though he still needed surgery, I imagine the time off before that game helped him heal up a bit.

Bamas defense was way better than LSU. LSU couldn't stop Henry. That's not the offenses fault. Against ARKY, LSU tried to throw and also got down early, because of the bad defense and st. Then LSU had to get out if it's comfort zone. Ole miss, both sides played bad.

I still worry about the physicality of our defense at linebacker and dline.

Miles will figure out a way to lose 3 or 4 games.

Yes you are right, and that was a big problem

The best defenses do as well (Bama vs Clemson and Ole Miss)

but you can't give up 30 points/game 3 weeks in a row.

You can't score 17 or less points 3 weeks in a row against good teams and expect to win either.

We've gone over 20 points only 4 times versus all West opponents the last 2 years. Only 4 times in 12 games have we scored at least 20 points and two of those were against some of the worst defenses in the SEC. We've scored over 30 points once in 12 division games over the last 2 years. Compare that to ANY other team in the division, go on, do it. LSU has finished 5th and 4th in our own division the past two years and it's mainly because we can't score against defenses that aren't flat out pathetic.

In that same span we have held 6 division opponents to 20 points or under (with an 7th scoring only 21). Even when the defense is down, it still isn't near as bad in comparison to the offense.

Like the Florida game?

Hell, even Syracuse shoved the ball down our throats.

But we're talking about a defense that set an LSU record for 20 point games allowed.

The point

Your head

LSUs offense can be at fault too (I blame more than just the passing attack)

If LSU scores 17 points against, they should go 2-1 in those 3 games.

With 3 being last year?/ I'm glad Syracuse isn't in the West I guess.

I wasn't talking about 2 years ago.

The defense deserves plenty of blame in every game but Arkansas, that we lost in the last 2 seasons. They turned it on from the Florida game on in 2014.

But hey, keep focusing your stats on the grand division opponents instead of the actual full schedule we played. I guess UF doesn't count.

In 2015, which is what I referenced, we gave up an average of 24+ ppg. I didn't bring up 2014, so it is completely irrelevant.
