You realize he was the consensus #1 safety in the draft right?

he was the #1 safety on the Patriots, saints, jets, and texans boards. Not like those coaches know anything about football, at least not compared to you

Kenny won the game for the Saints. He was the best player in the back 8 BY FAR. He played every down in the game and is much better in coverage.

I'll take Kenny's play against the best TE of all-time any day of the week. He saved at least 2 touchdowns. That isn't to say that Reid is some scrub, but he isn't the rare talent that Kenny is

I wouldnt say he was the consesus #1 safety in the draft. He and Reid were the top 2, and the order was switched sometimes, depending where you looked.

Both looked great as young safeties and look very promising. That said, what do you expect on a LSU board when comparing the 2? Reid will most likely have a better season, just because hes playing with the best D in the game thats loaded with talent at DL, LB, and DB. KV will still have a good year, but the entire saints D will struggle at times.

Did both look great? Yes.

Does it matter who was listed as the better safety on draft boards? No. There are players that were 3rd rounders that look better than the #1 guy at there position. Happens every year.

But, again TigerBait this is an LSU board. Of course everyone is going to say Reid is better.

Both are very very good Safety prospects and LSU was lucky to have Reid and the 49ers are lucky to have him now, and the Saints are lucky to have KV.

haha. After 1 week KV is a rare talent now. OK.Reid is just as talented, and more athletic.

Just stop with this crap it gets old. Both are very good looking prospects. KV made some plays on Tony G. Reid made some plays against Aaron Rodgers. Both look great. Stupid to argue about this on a LSU board.

End of thread.

Honestly when you look at the level of ofenses Reid has faced in his carrer...its not even close to any other Safety out there. He's faced the National Championship teams every year, and was the best Safety on the field.

You can say that again.

I wouldn't have been mad at the Saints taking either, however, Reid will excel in the 49er D. He may not have been as effective with the Saints. KV will have some bumps along the way simply because the Saints D isn't that good. They are better and KV is a big reason why and thats all that matters to me.

I'm pulling for Reid, for obvious reasons, but I hate the 49ers. I hate them because I want the Saints D to be that.

Mel didn't even have Reid as a top 5 safety (dumb). Mayock had KV 1st and ER 3rd.

everyone else would. Like I said, the best defensive minds in the NFL all had him rated #1.

KV was the quickest in the draft. He played the nickel for a good bit of his career due to injuries to teammates and was able to handle Austin. He plays a good bit of corner for the Saints too.

The Reid vs. KV threads get old?

no shite? It is a message board. The whole point is discussion. I love eric reid, he just isn't as good. KV is like a bigger TM7 on the field.

Consesus means every site/ scout agree that hes the top guy. And thats not true. There were a good amount of places and people that thought Reid was the #1 safety in the draft. Patrick Peterson was the consesus #1 CB in his drat because there was nobody saying Amukamura could be the #1 guy. Thats not true with KV/Reid. They were by far the top 2 guys in the draft class though. Im not arguing saying Reid was the #1 S in the class. But, Vacarro wasnt the "consesus" top safety.

You said KV was a rare talent and Reid isnt. Which, again, isnt true. Reid is bigger, stronger, faster, and jumps better. Hes just as talented as KV, and a better athlete. Am I saying KV isnt a good, maybe even great, talent? No. Im not. But, I wouldnt call either of these guys "rare talents" just yet.

Yea its a message board for LSU people. Of course people on here are going to say Reid was better haha. No point in trying to argue what people think. Nobody was saying anything about KV except you.

And dont compare KV to TM haha. There only are a few people that you can compare with TM, and KV isnt 1 of them.

And i dont know how you can say KV is flat out, obviously better than Reid. They both have played 1 game in their NFL careers. And, if you look at it by the numbers, which is my guess what Kiper went on, Reid was better in week 1. 7 tackles compared to 5. Reid had an INT and a pass defended vs 1 of the best QBs in the game in Rodgers. KV had 1 pass defended with 0 picks.

Am I saying Reid is better than KV, or KV is better than Reid? No. Because its way too early to say who is better than who. You cant tell a diff between the 2 players in the game they just played. And stats wise, Reid was better. Im not saying stats tell all or anything like that.

Fact is, both guys looked extremely good in their debuts. And both went against high powered offenses and held their own. Its just too soon to say who is better than who at the moment. Both looked fantastic and it will be fun to watch them grow in the future.

LSU Fan and of course a Saints fan and while both safties are great, I give the edge to KV and say hes an all around better S than ER. SF has 1 of if not the best Defense in the league who can allow Reid to be a center fielder for thier Defense. Kenny is all over the field for the Saints with a weaker defense. To say the Matt Ryan isnt a top tier QB also is crazy when talking about how Reid went against Rogers.

Time will tell at the end of the season who's better. Reid was never mentioned ever as the #1 S in the draft either. Some had the FL kid and Rambo over Reid. I believe it was a lack of cover skills they were concerned about when it came to ER.

And yet the 49ers have been very impressed by Reid's cover skills. Also Donte Whitner said Reid learned both safety positions faster than most players learn one.

Both will be great players, but just because Reid plays with a better defense doesn't mean he isn't the better safety.

i won't argue the top spot, but kv not on it is a joke. geno smith? really? qb rating of 80.6 with 1 td and 1 pick. ej manuel had a qb rating of 105.5 with 2 tds and no picks. and he's lower than geno smith. new york bias. big city bias.

He's a hard worker so I have no doubt he will do well. He struggled in 2012 in comparison to his 2011 play, but he was beat up
